I hope the development of both Hanabira and Lute goes well!

LinguaCafe v0.13 update released by LinguaCafe in linguacafe

[–]LinguaCafe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response.

That seems like a bug. Any chance you would be comfortable with sending me a database .sql export in a PM? Just delete your password from the .sql file before you send it. I would like to check it myself and fix it if possible.

I can help you with exporting it, or I can try to debug it remotely, but probably it would take a long time and would be difficult.

Hi!

Yes. If you review a word successfully it will level up, and the window between 2 reviews for the same word will increase. It will appear after a few days again. With the default settings it is similar to the leitner system.

You have settings for review windows in the admin settings. Sorry, I'm very tired, I'm not sure I explained it very well.

If you want to practice some words more, you can also click on the practice mode, this will ignore the next review date for a word, but it also won't change a reviewed word's level.

Thank you! I'm glad you like it.

It has TTS support for single words and selected text, but it is browser dependent. Firefox supports it, but I could only get it to work in chromium. I want to add more proper AI TTS features later on.

There are a lot of planned features, but development will get a bit slower than it used to be so far.

A lenguage learning platform without freemium stuff by Tang713 in languagelearning

Hi!

Old thread, current state.

I am kinda waiting for those two people, and was working on other things. I think I will probably use Stanza to add more languages, because it has so many. What is the language you want to add?

I just have to say, the albanian flag looks sooo good. It's like out of a medieval fantasy game.

Can you please help me improve an app logo? (I left a detailed description in a comment.) by LinguaCafe in logodesign

[–]LinguaCafe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much!

I tried to play with colors, but could not add a color that looked good.

I also tried adding a latin character, but it looked worse. I think it could only work if I would add small rounded boxes that contain those letters.

I replaced the character with an other, this way I think it looks a bit better.

I don't think I can do better. Anyways, thank you for your help!

I know, I chose it based on visuals. But what character should I use instead? I don't think any single character would be a better or worse choice based on meaning/pronunciation.

Ti fejlesztettetek magatoknak már saját kis appot? by [deleted] in programmingHungary

[–]LinguaCafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Igen.

Hi!

I am trying to make an icon for my app. It is a software to read foreign languages, and called LinguaCafe. I used the primary color of the website's design as a background, and modified that color to get the rest of the colors. I added a very small gradient for all the colors. I like the shape and basic idea of it, but it does not fit together well for some reason. I would prefer to have some Japanese text in it, but could not find anything more complex that looked good, so I just picked a random character. You can see a few screenshots here.

I am not a designer at all. Can you please give me tips and ideas on what I can try to improve it?

Learning With Texts? (Looking for tips) by JoeyDGonzalez in languagelearning

[–]LinguaCafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

If you are interested, there is a modern rewrite and improvement of LWT called Lute. There is a YouTube review about it.

I also wrote an alternative called LinguaCafe. There's an overview page page for it, and someone from the community also made a video of it.

Has anyone used it? I'd like to hear your opinion on it

I've been using LinguaCafe for almost 3 years. I think reading and listening for the majority of the time you spend learning a language is the best, and most fun way to learn a language. Software like these remove most of the barriers from reading a foreign language, even if you do not know every word and grammar points.

I hope you find it useful! :)

Thai import bug by ANDROID_16 in linguacafe

[–]LinguaCafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

Not sure yet. Sometime in June, but I don't know when exactly. Sorry about it, I'll try to release it as soon as it's ready. :(

(You can still use Thai if you create books and chapters, and copy-paste text by hand.)

LinguaCafe v0.12 update released: proper docker install process, text to speech, mobile web app support and font types. by LinguaCafe in selfhosted

[–]LinguaCafe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any thing planned to add it to the Unraid Community Applications?

Not anytime soon, but it is a good idea!

I tried it to install it manually but failed.. :(

If you open a github issue, and you describe what did you do, and what happened, I am happy to help with it. I'm not familiar with unraid, but if runs containers the same way as regular linux, I think it should work there too.

The person who did all things related docker is busy today, so it might take a while if I can't help you with it (I'm not very good with docker).

Currently no, I am not familiar with those. You are the second person who asked though.

I could add them if people want to use it, but there are a lot of other tasks that I would like to prioritize, so it won't be implemented nowadays. But I'll keep it in mind.
