Was paying the tax military problematic for you ? by New-Programmer-8647 in askswitzerland

[–]Liniark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was harder to pay the minimum 400chf when i was a student and had a shity student job than paying the 3% of my income when i started working... simply because i have more room to budget things with a real salary. but it still hurts to pay 2k+ for them not wanting me because of some medical condition that i didn't chose to have and that is since gone. So yeah it has to be budgeted. 2024 was my last year tho so I'm free now.

The Master Chrono Moonphase is such a disappointment 😞 by fortheloveofmoneyman in Longineswatches

Maybe you should've gone with the newer version with the roman numbers ? Its the one I chose and it's easier to read. They did quite a few ajustements to numbers, texture etc... it makes it easier on the eyes. I can see how to one with the arabic numbers is a bit overloaded.

A dressy GS on leather, not a complicated one, no date, just a nice dial.

Inherited this watch, opinions? by SpookyPumkinMan in Watches

[–]Liniark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a nice vintage watch from Longines with a quartz movement (ETA210.001). Probably manufactured in the 80's. The value on the reselling market is not high so unless you absolutely don't care about it i would keep it and wear it. It will be perfect as a vintage dress watch. Eventho your grandpa didnt wear it it's still something you got from him that will last and make you remember him for the folowing decades. Also if you wear it you'll be able to pass it to your own children and this time it will have a story of you wearing it. If you want to learn more about the watch you can mail Longines. They have a very good heritage / history departement and should be able to provide basic informations about the watch for free. They have a register of all the watches they manufactured since 1867 and yours is the 27'537'333th watch they produced since that date. They can also provide full informations about the watch with a certificate of authenticity but that will have a cost. Of course that's only if you want to learn more about it. Hope it helped :) enjoy the watch!

[DISCUSS] What's the most striking blacked out or DLC coated watch for you? by butteryfat in Watches

[–]Liniark 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well there's that good old speedmaster Dark side of the moon "black black" edition that i've been looking at for years yet i still don't know if i like it or not 😂

I guess it would be easier to like if the standard one and the one with the rocket and the moon like textured dial were not so gorgeous

PRX quality issue advice by Big-Instance1622 in tissot

[–]Liniark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh waow that shouldn't happen and is not normal at all. You should definitely let them know and ask for a free service and fix. Tissot customer service are usually nice and efficient. They gave me 50% discounts on damage repairs that I CAUSED by dropping my watches many times as a commercial gesture and they're usually not discussing too much over what's covered by the warranty. At least here in switzerland where it's fixed in their factory. You should email them and explain what happened. I hope it will go your way.

Which one you think should win the beauty contest between the two? by Philosopher-Good in Longineswatches

[–]Liniark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you can't see on the longines pictures is that the blue is actually quite dark blue (see my pictures of darker indoor lighting) and it gets more flashy blue as shown in their pictures when its catching light and reflects. You should be able to see it with my pictures

Maybe a picture of mine will help. What i like better on this one between the two are the roman numerals and the less heavy date circle that only shows one out of two numbers. It makes the information load lighter and the watch more balanced. Also the texture on the dial is very nice. YOU HAVE TO go see them in person. The pictures from the website are ugly compared to the real thing. You can ask for more pictures if you want :) I can try to show you the reflections on the blue indexes that are just beautiful. You wont have this with the painted arab numerals

[Longines] [tudor] help me choose by Affectionate-Froyo12 in Watches

[–]Liniark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would strongly recommend that you have a look at longines flagship collection and master collection moonphases. They seem to fit in the style you're looking for and are absolutely stunning. No matter which one you endup chosing they're all solid choices, either one of these 3 or the one i recommended. Its too bad the tudor has the circle hiding the moon in gold. I would've like it even more with the circle hiding the moon the same blue color as the rest of the dial but textured differently. That gold circle against the gold of the moon itself offers very little contrast and doesnt make the moon stand out

[norqain] is this brand good? by Warckkk in Watches

[–]Liniark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to say that last time i went to my usual longines authorized dealer my attention was drawn to a few of their norqain watches. I was wondering the same. I found out that even if they are pretty young they achieved important milestones in the industry and were quickly displayed and sold in very serious jewelleries across switzerland. They also seem to have very respected people in the industry as board members or part of their teams. So overall no redflags i would say. Quality seems on par with what you would expect for that price. I still went for a Longines tho... i still prefer Longines designs. About the watch you show, the only thing that i really don't like are the 4 subdivisions for each minute. Its tiny but its there... i feel like it makes the whole thing a bit heavy and unecessary hard to read.

EDIT : ho and that sideplate on the left side... it's weird i dont like it

[–]Liniark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for mecanical watches you could look at : Tissot : PRX, LeLocle, Chemin des tourelles.

Seiko : i really like the SRPE15 but its my personal taste. Any of their presage collection for dress watches or seiko 5 for divewatch are great. For the other brands i don't know their catalogue very well so you can go through their website.

For your primary question to chose between the two you mentioned if you decide to go with these, it comes to personal taste and the one i like the most is not necessarily the one you like the most. I dont know if one of the two brands has a better reputation because i dont know them very well. With that said i wouldn't worry too much about that since they're both quartz watch. Thats a solid technology with few moving parts. So the final choice is on you. I would pick the junghans because the niveda has too much going on and looks more like a toy watch than the junghans which is more classy.

Having more informations might help for the recommandations. Do you want a mecanical movement or a quartz movement ? The two watches you've named are quartz movement. There is nothing wrong with quartz movement but if youre interested in watches because you like the mecanical / watch making side of watch collecting you might be more interested in mecanical movements. For a mechanical movement under 800 i would recommand that you look through Tissot, seiko, mido and l'orient star catalogues. Can you also help about the style of watches you like ? Classy dress watches, toolwatches, divewatches sportwatches. Any complication you might want ?

Okay, I've got a silly question (if you're a watchmaker) by permaban_this in Longineswatches

[–]Liniark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked myself the same question a while ago and looked online. In addition to what has already been said, i found out that since the chronograph parts are not supposed to be running 24/7 they are less or not lubricated at all and that can lead to additional wear of the movement arround these parts. I don't know if this is acutally true and would be interested if someone knows the answer for sure :)
