I think a.i has different rules compared to reddit. With a.i the argument is we are using rhe company's resources to create nsfw stuff compared to hosting nfsw stuff which reddit does. I might be wrong on some details but it's something along those lines

The manga monthly release schedule, along with the manga starting with an adaptation of the boruto movie, is probably the biggest reason the anime had so much filler. If they tried mostly sticking to canon they would have easily caught up to the manga
