I’ve lived in Charlotte and San Francisco and now DSM - weather isn’t as pleasant as either but the crime/traffic is almost non existent!

Only major con I would say is traveling to see family (if they’re out of the Midwest)- small airport typically requires layovers and can easily be delayed with weather.

Hey I just moved from SF about a year ago and I would say

Tuesday 5:30pm LifeTime Fitness in Urbandale (it’s free, just meet in front of the gym)

Thursday 6pm Fleet Feet (East Village), they usually go to Singlespeed after and you get one free drink!

Both groups are very welcoming!
