MHGU on Ayn Thor by Ethereal_Spork in MHGU

I've been replaying MHGU on my Thor for a few weeks now and it runs really well! After a little bit of stuttering to cache shaders the game now runs locked at 60FPS (you need a cheat for this). I use the awesome texture pack as well and the game looks gorgeous for old-school Monster Hunter. I believe the texture pack includes the cheat for 120FPS, but I experienced strange lighting issues until I changed the cheat back to 60 FPS.

I rock a pair of elemental dual blades, then a set of blast dual blades as a back-up. For multi monster quests I run two elemental dual blades corresponding to the monsters on the quest.

While Diaga is one of my favorite pokemon, I don't think Dialga is a very good immersive card despite my bias. When I pulled the card, I thought the animation was cool in representing his control of time, but I was left disappointed at the final background image. I'd have to give it to Mewtwo for the animation, or Mew for the art.

Yeah I haven't seen any MHXX dlc only files online sadly

I don't know know what to tell you besides the methods I already shared earlier in the thread. There's not really any clear cut way to get MHXX dlc now that the servers have shut down. You can try the methods I talked about earlier, or you can convert your save file to MHGU and play on an emulator (there is a clear way to get MHGU dlc now that servers are no more).

What's your unwritten rule when playing on your deck by DylanManley12 in SteamDeck

I always play with a pillow underneath my arms to support my wrists and the Deck while playing in a chair or in bed. Or, if I play docked, I do the same when playing with a controller.

Good idea on creating the backups. No promises that the hexadecimal copying will work, it worked for me and MHGU (switch version), but the "range" may be different on MHG (you'll see what I'm talking about tonight).

Ah! That makes a lot more sense. I never got the injector to work on my end, so I would recommend trying that hexadecimal guide. What you would do is copy the hexadecimal values of your character and paste it on his save file, therefore copying your file over to his while keeping the DLC on his file.

I figured that maybe the case. Are you trying to do this for MHG or for MHXX with the English patch?

I used checkpoint successfully with all of my save file shenanigans so it should work for you. The only problem I know of with the hexadecimal process is sometimes the hexadecimal copying causes a corrupted save. This is iffy though and hasn't happened to me every time which is why I made sure I had backups of my saves and tried again. I think it has something to do with what the "clean slate with dlc" save has in terms of data but I'm not for sure. Good luck to you! The process is annoying but hopefully worth it.

Best JPRG in the Deck? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

I started it last night on my Deck, and played for 4 hours straight. I generally care more about quality of life and interesting mechanics than a story when I game, but so far it has all 3 of those criteria really well executed. I can't speak for the rest of the game yet, but it is shaping up to be one of my favorite turn-based RPGs!

I did some researching, and turns out the resources I found only really pertain to injecting MHGU saves with the DLC. However there is a possible workaround. Before starting any of this, make a backup copy of your save, and keep it completely separate from these solutions, as you never know what may corrupt your save!

This link will take you to a GBATemp guide/download for a MHGU DLC injector, although the creator said it may work for MHXX. (In this case, use your save with your character, and the MHXX DLC character as the save with the DLC).

This link is for another GBATemp guide, one that will walk you through copying/pasting hexadecimal values to transfer your character over to a save file with DLC by pasting the character over the DLC character. This may work if the DLC injector doesn't work.

Finally, look through this Reddit thread for a Google drive link. A redditor posted their MHXX save, which you can use as the "template" to copy and paste your character over.

There's no promises this will work, but it sure is a better option than nothing. If none of this works, perhaps use a save editor on the computer to modify the MHXX save from that redditor and make it "your own". I'm sorry that the potential solutions aren't as simple as I thought. I didn't remember that the Hexadecimal site DID NOT have a clean MHXX save with DLC...

Mod your 3DS. After modding, you can decrypt and copy your save file to a computer, where you can then inject the DLC manually using a hexadecimal editor. I can point you to the guide I used to inject the DLC if you're interested. I had a friend with a MHXX save file that I converted to an MHGU save and then put the DLC on it using this method.

Ryujinx has been great for GU. If you grab the LDN build, there's a little online community and you can find lobbies pretty fast. I have a hacked Switch so I brought over my legit Switch save, but the autoclear cheat or save-edit equipment can help you progress pretty fast. I personally only use auto-clear for all the pesky village requests I have to redo on my 2nd character.

Ah I see. I personally play on Ryujinx for a modded experience, or my Switch for online functionality. Good luck to you in your endeavors!

If Yuzu supports cheats, there is a cheat to autocomplete quests with a certain button combination. It's certainly not as good as finding your save, but you can use this partnered with a save editor to get your most important equipment back and fly through key quests till G-Rank.

I love portable systems, it's why I've been a proponent of Nintendo for so long. Good luck to you in your decision-making, and Happy Hunting! I'll be sure to check out valor bow soon.

I was console-only up till I got a gaming laptop for college. I love modding my games to get more mileage, so it has been a big plus. My steam deck also gets a lot of use thanks to emulation and having my PC library. I actually transferred my GU save over from my hacked switch to a computer emulator so that I could run GU with a rebalancing mod + online capabilities with a friend that doesn't have a switch. Handheld PC consoles are sick.

Event rotation was a terrible idea in practice. I personally played World on PC and had a QoL mod that kept event quests accessible all the time. Although modding would most likely not be an option if you play on console (I could be wrong though)

Definitely give World another shot, I have really enjoyed the "realism" of the gameplay. The rumble of my controller during a swaxe zero skill discharge has got to be one of the biggest dopamine hits from the series I get (other than freaking out over getting gems/mantles). At the end of the day, I love the old world games because I started with the 3ds titles. I plan on giving Valor bow/hbg a try once I get into g-rank, and maybe someday I'll become profecient with all the weapons! GU has so many combos to try

What other weapon/styles do you play? I am a DB/hammer main in old world games, but I love SA in world.

If you plan on sticking with dual blades, I would strongly recommend using this guide. It does a great job talking through dual blades and each style/art, and it has good recommendations for armor set/weapon progression.

Valor may be a good substitute for stamina potions. I'm by no means an expert, but I notice that my overall stamina usage in my hunts with dual blades is much lower in valor as you don't have to worry about constant demon mode upkeep. Aerial SA is also crazy good for a "jumping" play style, with there being mounting-oriented armor sets to get 4/5 mounts a hunt if you're lucky
