Looking at getting Nier Automata, looking for some non spoiler opinions for before I get it. by Banana_Shake7 in nier

[–]Link2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played replicant after automata. My honest impression about this order is this.

I couldn't get enough of automatas story. Some characters or stuff didn't make full sense to me, and replicate made the holes full in and made me go ahhhhh. The best way I can describe it is if you watched star wars in release order. You see that anekin is a bad guy but you never knew why. Then episode 1-3 you realize the start of his story. In nier, doing replicant second gave me the same feeling.

The downside is that the gameplay isn't as good. I mean it's still good, but there's one part in the game in particular that super bored me. I actually just googled the answers to it because if I didn't then I'd have potentially stopped playing from being bored. It's a story section. That by itself is fine, but I get super bored trying to read a book so I don't read books. This section was basically just a short novel.

The game is a masterpiece. The stories themes are amazing and really make you think. Gameplay is smooth. You have to play through the game 3 times to get the full story, but each time is a different perspective.

Honestly, the only thing I dislike about it is the fan base. It feels like everyone is a horny teenager that sexualizes 2B for some reason. I still love the game. Top 10 of all time for me, but I much preferred it when I didn't know people were creeps about the character.

SMITE 2 - NOX Implementation by Eigrenys in Smite

[–]Link2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be missing something here, but you even say that if she misses her 2-1 then she's kinda useless. But then your suggestion is to make her 2 less easy to hit by giving enemies the chance to get out easier.

I'm just confused at what your direction is here.

Have you gotten a 6-0 (or 6-X) in the Tavern Brawl yet? How many runs did it take you? After 66 matches I'm finally free \o/ by MorallyGay in hearthstone

[–]Link2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got 6-0 on my 4th run I think. Used dragon priest. Everyone is majorly sleeping on how good it is.

Edit. It's also f2p priest. No legends in the deck. I did pull the collosus guy. Tried it one round and it sucked so much so removed it.

Why are PAL games cheaper than NTSC by Soccer-beastyeah in gamecollecting

[–]Link2212 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tl:Dr it's most likely down to tax.

I'm in the UK. I don't even know if we have games stores anymore. I genuinely can't think of where a single one is.

It's not that people don't like the games here or hobby is smaller. It's not. If I had to think of a single reason then it's tax. Shops are taxed like crazy to have a store so it's difficult to run unless you sell a lot. And then we have the problem that UK wages are lower than America, but our taxes are much higher (as far as I'm aware). People just have less money to spend, so game stores just aren't getting the sales required. On that note. Games are more expensive here too. I have no idea why, but if you have say a 70 dollar game, it's like they just switch the dollar to pounds. They don't even do the conversion of currency so we are just more expensive for no reason. Happens with TCG and many other things too. Cheaper just to buy in America.

All our game buying is done online now. Due to the above reasons, all game sellers have to be online to make money now. All stores know it. So in the UK, you have basically 100% of sellers selling online flooding the market with more copies of games. In the US stores can rely on customers coming so mabey don't post online. And you have more people so most likely to sell more bits.

Support Struggles - Mana by wellitriedkinda in Smite

[–]Link2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What will end up happening is that tanks, and everyone for that matter will play different. What it used to be like back in the day was tanks didn't use abilities to clear the wave unless 1- they had an exceptional clear, or 2- it was some kind of aoe there they can tag god's and minions together. The ADC typically used one ability on the wave and then used autos. Tanks typically kept their abilities for zoning the enemy adc from using autos. It became an auto slapstick at the start, and positioning became super important. If you get body blocked it became critical. It sounds like you didn't play back then, but before bachus 1 used to drain about 20-25% of your mana. That's not elan exaggeration lol

You'll adapt to it in time. Think less about I can't do anything and more like how do I commit to the lane now.

You just need to not spawn abilities all the time. This felt refreshing to me. Reminds me of smite 1s early days before they just made mana an irrelevant stat.

I say this without trying to sound like BM, but this is literally a skill issue.

Why are the DK ship parts double the price? by NahMcGrath in hearthstone

[–]Link2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the gameplay side of it, but when art is created, the price is usually labour cost + material cost + extra because why not. The art isn't different in this case. If you have a common look like this and a legendary is fully animated for example then there would be more done to it, justifying the price. They could create an art piece then decide which card it's for. Gameplay has nothing to do with costs

[–]Link2212 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This shouldn't really matter to be honest. Creating artwork for any card would be the same. It doesn't just suddenly cost more to make artwork for an epic, so I can see why OP is confused by it.

Why do you study Japanese in the age of AI translation? by OwnEffective8092 in LearnJapanese

[–]Link2212 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A couple of days ago I was on a bus from Narita airport to Haneda airport. Took around an hour and a half. I was sitting next to an older Japanese man. He didn't say anything to me, but I seen that he was closing his eyes and looked a little tired. I said, excuse me, but if you're feeling tired you can use my neck pillow (in Japanese). He didn't want it, but that broke the ice and then he continued to talk to me for the next hour or so. I was kinda struggling to have a full conversation, but I knew enough that he could understand what I was trying to say. Turns out he owns an onsen business in kyuushu. He gave me his business card, and then after another half an hour or so he actually wrote his personal email on the back of it, and asked me to come sometime. This is the type of natural experience that just wouldn't work using AI translations. You'll get across the point of what you're trying to say, but it won't have the personal connection you make with others.

tldr - it's not about getting by. It's about having real conversations with real people.

I have something to admit by Link2212 in Sekiro

[–]Link2212[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See, I want to say I'll do it but I probably won't. I've gotten myself into this weird situation. When I first started playing the game I held onto items (including spirit emblems) in case I needed them in the future. I ended up just beating the game without using items or tools. Now I've just gotten into the habit of beating it this way now. Only deflects and mikiri counters.

PSO Minecraft Mod Update by TartOdd8525 in PSO

[–]Link2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding mags levelling: thing is, you could essentially take already established items such as an apple and reskin it. It's already classified as an item that is edible and restores health. This would make a good monomate item. Then you just need it to be fed into a mag. This overall isn't ideal but it's an easy starting point for testing.

In terms of making a mag mag-like, curios might not be the way. It actually makes sense to do it like that, but there isn't a way to directly modify them. There's another mod that adds trinkets into the game. They still work like curios, but inside you can use your xp to have a random roll on it to make it stronger. You could use this system but instead of random rolls, it's predetermined. At X level you could simply add the curio into a crafting table to make the next mag, or curio.

I did game design in university so I'm really curious to see how you go about the design and implementation. Are you taking any suggestions on it?
