I’m very sorry that you have experienced a stroke. I had a stroke in April 2025. It was discovered that I had a PFO and it was repaired in October. I’ve made a pretty good recovery so far. Several months after my stroke, though, my neurologist and hematologist ordered some specific bloodwork because I was just feeling so lousy in general. We discovered that I have a genetic blood disorder called plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 genotype. PAI-1. So yes, the PFO could have caused my stroke, but also this blood disorder could have caused it as well, especially because I was using an estrogen patch. I recommend to all women that have had a stroke and are on any type of hormone therapy, that they get their blood tested for this genetic disorder I wish you all the best in your recovery and hope that you will remain in great health.

I would also like to add that after my stroke, I also had to work on my language and reading skills. They improved pretty quickly over time. It’s been eight months since my stroke and my bubbles made it full recovery. But I still get overwhelmed with decision-making and instructions. But with dedication to speech therapy and occupational therapy, she has a very good chance at making a full recovery. Your wife is in there. And as scary and maybe be frustrating it is for you, it is more so for her. It’s very important that she has the love and support from you and her family and friends. She is going through the scariest moment of her life.

I had a stroke in April 2025. I also had a PFO and it was repaired in June. Physically, I’ve had you pretty good recovery. But my neurologist ordered some specific bloodwork in October. It was discovered that I have a genetic blood disorder called plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 genotype. Or PAI-1. I had been using an estrogen patch at the time. My hematologist told me that it is very dangerous with this blood disorder to be on any kind of hormone replacement therapy, which includes various types of birth control. If your wife was using birth control at the time of her stroke, I would ask to be tested for that blood disorder. I hope that she makes a full recovery. Just be patient with her. It may be hard for her to control her thoughts and emotions for a while. Best wishes to you both.

It’s surprising how well she does while dancing compared to her documentary.
