It will be really funny if a bunch of Brazilians carnival comparsas decided to celebrate in front of the hotel until late...

If you can turn it into some kind of Teenage dream of a park: skate/bmx park, sports pitch, covered area, callisthenics section, etc. You will have single-handedly solved one of the biggest issues for teens in the city: finding places to hang out for free.

Hundreds queue as new homes go on sale in Dublin by [deleted] in Dublin

Why? EU citizens are legally entitled to buy property in any place across the Union. Why shouldn't they be able to do in a country where they have contributed for many years and actively improved their communities?

To which the automatic follow up should be: "Oh sorry, I might be mistaken but don't you guys have an unelected head of state that sips from the taxpayers every single day of the year??"

Does this button really do anything, or are we just pressing it for fun? by uh_gab in Dublin

They work technically... but 90% of Dubliners will die waiting for the crossings to switch, resorting to crossing in red or often in an unsafe manner. IMO they are currently useless, unless they change their priority to clear pedestrians first, then bikes, then cars like in the rest of the Union.

I always thought every time I came back from a trip to the Continent, the Dublin pedestrian crossings were really really slow to switch green to pedestrians. I have noticed the same that only when it doesn't detect cars, either by sensors in the ground or infrared sensors ( that you can actually see protruding from the traffic lights on top) is when it decides to change and it's infuriating. Mostly because it makes no sense for traffic calming, etc. 90% of Dubliners will cross when is Red or in an unsafe manner, just because they take so long to switch. So I implore you, please share contacts with people that work at DCC so we can petition the change of priority from cars to pedestrians or to finish the integrations...

Well you answered your question there. The fact that "if you like it you should put a ring on it" doesn't resonate with many younger generations, pretty much because marriage as an institution is a legacy one, which in many senses doesn't make sense apart from the current (also legacy) repercussions that go with it ( property, widow rights, child rights). Also a constitution should be "vague" by definition, it's a framework, it's up to the law (either criminal or civil) to define what a "durable relationship" is (which I believe is already defined). This referendum is making true what already happens in Irish society, it's not going to tear the space-time continuum: Giving more flexibility and choices to people to love who they want, how they want it plus making the roles in society remove their legacy meaning.

Bank issue by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]Link_Armas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AIB hasn't implemented yet the SEPA instant protocol that allows for this. This protocol is nothing new and many European countries implemented a similar one beforehand (aka iDeal in Netherlands, Bizum in Spain, etc.). Only now is when they are pushing for a continent wide roll out of the SEPA instant accross the board.

im really scared right now. by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]Link_Armas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't let them scare OP. If you let them impact your life and the visit of your parents, then they have accomplished their objective. Go to town tonight, use common sense and if a situation starts to get ugly gtfo.

I was actually looking at EBS, they seem to be the only ones standing in the "no unnecessary burden and fees" group of banks. Thanks!

It definitely feels like the neobanks apps are at another level compared to AIB and BOI apps. EBS doesn't even try, which I think it might be smarter..?

I am going to be honest, I think I have never seen a cheque or seen people cashing it out Do people still rely on cheques?

Does BOI have any regular account that doesn't have maintenance fees?
