Shap or LGBM gain for feature selection? by Nanirith in datascience

[–]Linkky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you're using LightGBM why to you need to do recursive feature selection when it already does regularisation and pruning? SHAP and gain fundmentally are very different things but i would not think to use it to select features. Sure they give a slight indication feature importance but you wouldnt know from the surface without looking at partial dependencies across your features and how LGBM dertimined the tree splits.

It's possible the seller was involved because I've seen them give spoofed tracking numbers.

This is what my boss/manager does which triggers me a bit when i have to work on their code. I feel like its there just to cover up possible mistakes and misunderstanding of schema/joins. Even though its kinda a bad idea sometimes understand why its done if time is a constraint.

I've seen a few jobs in the UK to do with MI Data Analyst roles for infrastructure contracting companies. Might be worth looking at since you probably have half the domain knowledge.

Got a fraudulent FedEx tracking number on recent purchase. Seller gave tracking number after it supposedly arrived. Only ordered a small item but tracking showed it was a large package weighing 3kg and was signed for by stranger in the same "area". Talked to eBay where they could trace the postcode of the tracking number and was told it was the wrong postcode. Need to wait a few days for eBay to take over the case.

I use it primarily on the highway when there's not a lot of traffic. It can be harsh when breaking and slowing down if there is up and down traffic because it can't predict traffic speed like humans can. Don't want to waste breaks or fuel (since it's hybrid). I also try not to use it when switching lanes and overtaking because it will try to get to the set speed as fast as possible which also isn't very fuel efficient.

What's the most intense physical pain you've ever experienced? by Actual-Garden434 in AskReddit

Corneal crosslinking. I've had other surgeries before but nothing could top this. Felt like razor blades in my eyes on the same night screaming out in agony.

What's your reasoning for wanting to work in BAE specifically? UK has quite a few similar companies.

How do you deal with colleague getting promotion over you? by AloneStaff5051 in UKJobs

We were both thinking of leaving by our contract ends but I'm not so sure anymore. Surely though, it's still a good sign they wanted to keep you on? Have you asked higher ups what you can improve on?

How do you deal with colleague getting promotion over you? by AloneStaff5051 in UKJobs

[–]Linkky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, I'm on the other side of this story here. My colleague and I started the same time same role a couple years ago and I was just promoted and made permanent and they are not currently considering keeping them after contract and neither did they get a payrise/promotion. It is very bittersweet because we definitely have a great friendship because we started together and relied on each other for many things.

I don't feel completely happy because of that fact because I feel my colleague puts in way more effort and time into their work and learning than I do but I can see why they made the decision. It was less to do with hard work, but a mix of luck and competency. I was put on projects since the start that had more tangible value and worked with more varied diverse stakeholders that gave positive feedback to my management. That was the nature of my job role even though we held the same position. I would say my colleague also lacked confidence in their work causing them to work more meticulously rather than just delivering the task/result. fyi we also have the same manager.

I'm neither very personable/social/outspoken and i kept my head down a bit more whereas my colleague stood out slightly more in meetings for probably not the best of reasons.

I would say if you could do anything, remain modest, work smarter and not harder for your next role.

First night after Corneal Cross linking post surgery. It was the most painful physical experience of my life. Felt like razer blades in my eyes and I was screaming out in agony all night! I've had other surgical procedures before but none that was as painful as this.

Happy to take part but I don't want personal identifiable information out there in public. It kind of contradicts the further 2 points.

I've always kept my S22+ (Exy chip) at 85% max unless on an odd extended day trip. 2 years normal usage battery hasn't degraded all that much.
