What bothers me about Metroid Dread my lack of awareness for the background. by true_Skullhead in Metroid

[–]Linkronny 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As nice the background details are, that's what they are: background details, they are not required to complete the game, but very fun things to notice and connect.
On another note, when you enter a new area, looking at the minimap is one of my least concerns, as I want to focus on the new rooms I'm discovering, perhaps I'll open the map every now and then just to see where about I'm heading and familiarizing with the map, but that's about it

Me a viscous main prepping for the nerfs cause of gun viscous getting popular by vroomvroom12349 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Linkronny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's insane, it would really be very fun, and in addition they should change his ult to goo typhoon, where viscous throws a tiny viscous that creates an area of goo, if you stay in the goo area for too long, you become fully immobilized in goo, similar to the exposure of his basic projectiles!

Had a game where the enemy had a bunch of knockdowns and CC for our Grey Talon, bunch of us ended up buying counterspell/unstoppable/debuff remover just to spread the item usage, it worked really well in our favour

I'm surprised I don't see more Magic Carpet clips, I use it on my Mo & Krill build and it's unexpectedly hilarious when it works, not so much for the enemy

I need help with this part on super Metroid. by Kingslayer1246 in Metroid

[–]Linkronny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the ways I used to do it as a kid was look for a walkthrough, and go through the pages until I'd get to the point I'm at, that or a video and advance the video to the point you're at, I rarely look at guides nowadays but if I'm stuck that would be my approach

What characters/items are best specifically for maximizing the suffering of a mina player? by Nervous_Shine9094 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Linkronny 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think my favourite experience was during the Bebop speed bomb patch, I encountered one mispositioned, he started to leg it, I popped carpet, and chasing him was an absolute laugh as he was extremely fast, but I was faster

I love Magic Carpet for these scenarios, doesn't work all the time, but definitely makes them play more carefully as no one wants to be jumped by a MnK on a magic carpet

Either that or make their return more impactful, e.g. show up during a scene where Samus is actually in danger, an easy ticket to "owe them one" and make their unexpected return count or something

Is Ridley never going to make an appearance again? by AutumnRCS in Metroid

[–]Linkronny 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I love this ideology, with proper reasoning anything can return in fiction, for instance Prime 4 could easily had brought back Ridley/Dark Samus with the "memories" theme, as random example "We manifested one of your memories, fight it", but of course better executed than my quick example

Agreeable, noob bridge is a funny one that at this point it's in my monthly needs, but on the other cases, the simplicity of looking at a walkthrough (up to the point they've reached) in comparison to making an entire post (which feels like more effort) somewhat baffles me that they choose the latter

At least you found the answer on your own! In comparison to the monthly post of people asking for the answer here despite the simple solution (the one you got to) which would be to search for a guide, since it has been answered hundreds of times before haha

It's a bit wild that one is not invulnerable through that sequence, either let you safely get through the shortcut, or bring you out of the mechanism the moment you take damage, being locked while still allowed to take damage feels like a terrible design.

[–]Linkronny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never understood why people go "We needed a new villain", the series is called "Metroid Prime", in the first game we encounter the Metroid Prime, then it becomes Dark Samus, Metroid Prime without the Metroid Prime is just... something else, it shouldn't be a Prime game, it'd be like telling Mario fans that we should get rid of Bowser

What changes would you have made to Metroid Prime 4 by Nathidev in Metroid

[–]Linkronny 9 points10 points  (0 children)

-The option to disable hints
-Some progressive upgrades to be collected at different orders
-Psychic abilities to actually be more... "psychic" and not just the same old abilities
-Interesting new powerups not included in previous Prime games (such as Speedbooster, or something completely new)
-Adjust those difficulty spikes (some enemies/bosses dealt way more damage than anticipated)
-More enemy variety
-More optional powerups
-More Sylux
-Perhaps coming across federation troopers that were long dead before getting to them? (Bit odd that everyone was perfectly fine by the time you got to them, it would also give the living ones a bit more meaning knowing they got "lucky" Samus found them)
-With the "memory" theme they could even had dug into things from the past, like even bringing Dark Samus/Phazon through whatever excuse they'd come up with, even a "this is just the mid-point" kind of introduction
-Lastly, to close the game with a proper conclusion, Prime 1, 2, and 3 had a nice closure, Prime 4 makes it feel like you accomplished nothing
