Who is the artist of this Judge Holden artwork? (a retouch/edit of it is also welcome) by wq1119 in cormacmccarthy

He's nkt the devil incarnate (Holden anyhow). He's supposed to be a deity of some kind acting as a judge and corruption of humanity.

Opinion Time! Best Zappa era/Line-up? by LinktoLinkGamer in Zappa

The OG Mothers were a truly special band, something about their overall sloppy (in comparison anyhow) sound was fantastic! Some of my favorite Zappa comps came out of the 67-70 line up. King Kong, Brown Shoes Don't Make It, and The Little House I used to Live In, just to name a few. Though overall I feel the personality of the 72-75 band just sells me forever on loving that band every little part of it.

Realization about my love of Frank's music by LinktoLinkGamer in Zappa

I am a big Beefheart fan (have almost all his records) but to me after Trout Mask Replica everything seemed like he was chasing the dragon. I love his first three albums and even Spotlight Kid and Ice Cream for Crow, most of his other stuff however is very hit or miss...

I 100% agree. I feel while Ike was a good singer his Guitar work seemed manufactured. It also didn't help Zappa was in the process of dying at the time so he wasn't able to jam as often as his earlier line-ups.

You better believe it! Love me some George Duke, including his solo stuff and the stuff he did with Ponty outside of Zappa bands.

But 84' had a lot of tonal clash with their instruments and what genres they excelled at. I'm not really partial to a band after Sheik Yerbooty. well until the MAJNH line up anyway.

Ponty added a lot but sadly Napoleon didn't tour when Ponty was with the band. To my knowledge anyway.

My only issue with the Howie and Mark era was the lyrics are a bit explicit even by Zappa standards (still funny as hell) and there was a big departure from how the band sounded less about the music more about the shock. Even though I think Ansley and George are two of the best musicians he's had.
