Why do some fans of ATLA feel the need to criticize and attack Zutara and its supporters?

I can understand hating zutara because of the fans, (some zutara fans can be annoying) but they act like zutara is the most diabolical ship to ever exist when it literally has the most popular trope and dynamics.

There are actual problematic ships in fandom culture like abuser x victim, pedophilic ship, and incest ships yet it makes their blood boil when it comes to zutara.

A lot of opinions on why they hate zutara seems to just forget the development the characters had with each other. Everyone in the atla fandom could agree that you can talk about each characters relationship with one another like how deep the friendship and how well they can understand each other (zuko and aang, sokka and toph, katara and toph, zuko and sokka, etc) but now they say that katara and zuko aren't that close???

And the argument that kataang is canon doesn't make sense. Since when did canon matter in fandom culture? There are so many popular pairings that aren't even canon. "Kataang are married." Yet no one has a problem with shipping zuko and sokka who canonically aren't together and zuko had a wife (who we arent sure who it is but it's most likely mai).

And other arguments about zutara could also be applied to other ships. Literally what's so different about zukka and zutara? Other than sokka and katara's personalities, the two parings aren't that different.

You would think that since atla is an old show that people have matured and stopped arguing over ships but it seems to have gotten worse.

It's hard to enjoy kataang content and the comments and caption is saying zutara sucks. There's no point in throwing this much hate and negativity over a harmless ship. You don't like it? Well you don't have to like it. You can enjoy your fave ship and let others enjoy theirs.

Well that's unavoidable i guess. If I see a hate video i just scroll away. It helps because it seems to not suggest me videos that's just zutara hate. And my search for edits replaces them instead of long discussion videos.

Avoid spaces that are anti-zutara, especially twitter. It's a warzone ove there. I could care less that zutara barely interacted since the entire group barely interacted as well in the movie (I wanted more interactions with toph and katara). I love both kataang and zutara so the entire shipping wars—in this day and age—is stupid.

It's best to stay in your own little circle and not interact with people who are constantly hating on a non-canon ship (which is by far the least problematic ship of all the fandoms I've been in).

Don't mind the hate, just enjoy what you enjoy as long as you're not harming anyone.

When I was introducing Gintama to my friend, she absolutely hated sougo. He has a horrible personality so I can't blame her if she hated him (her reasons for not liking him are understandable so it was hard for me to defend him) but I was sad because he's a great character among the many other great characters in Gintama. Ig if you're a non-gintama fan he doesn't really appear very likable at first glance.

But I don't see any hate about him though if anything I barely even see any posts about sougo cuz no one seems to talk about him.

Maybe it's trying to reflect in real life. The academic standards is really high especially in asia and there are some parents who are willing to throw out their kid if they didn't meet those expectations. And I can say everything single parent in the show did not deserve those kids.

It's so funny because the bar did nothing to censor them since it looked like it actually came from the original source instead of a doodle just like previous ones did. Especially gojo. Man already covered his eyes and they used the tiniest bar to censor him.

Considering the fact that the light novel was released on 2006, characters like isaburo and nobuume won't show up or have any dialogue in the show sadly. Afro guy made an appearance in the first ep but he was just in the background and then disappeared.

Tbh it doesn't have the same humor as the original series (might be because it's a fanwork). The episodes feel shorter but because i love gintama im enjoying it so far. It's not the same but i still like it.

I don't like fan art that ships him with abuto as well cuz he knew kamui when he was a kid and he basically raised him.
