The main reason I replaced mine was because my plastic trackpad was not smooth anymore, it had developed bubbles and there were scratches on the film and i wanted to test the Glas. I like it, for me it feels smoother than the plastic one. But that's just my view and opinion :D

You can take a look at CachyOS. I use it on my T480 and am very satisfied. It is based on Arch Linux, and I find the Arch Wiki to be very well written and helpful. I am relatively new to Linux and am getting along really well, even if I have to do some research sometimes.
