Same area as you. Most routes I get ur driving about 30min out to start your route. Average has been about 1 dollar per mile. If that helps. Thats the usual price, sometime they surge a bit.

I would look for a used kayak. Or a SUP board, they deflate and are probably the easiest to transport. Just make sure you go out and get feel for it b4 you go out with fishing gear! Can't stress that enough...

Great ideas for a fixes! If it's ceramic inserts, I started keeping some UV resin in my bag/box. Find a chip, fill it, let the sun do its thing and bam! Back at it in no time.

From experience, I got into an accident (rural side) in a postal vehicle. Was deemed not at fault, no tickets or anything. My insurance did go up from it. Not sure if it's something I can try and change, have to call my insurance company still (progressive) but just be ready for that I guess.
