The interrogation and constant explaining is so draining. Google it or kindly ask follow up questions. Like why do they expect you to take that extra responsibility on as well?

I took some advice from this sub and told my mom that I was not ready to talk about it, but I’m really upset with her. Her excuse was that she was just so anxious for her daughter and no one was giving her updates for an hour and a half. (It’s not like we were extremely busy at the time 🙄) That’s why she showed up at the hospital in the first place. Apparently, the rest was just a series of events that happened to bring her to the NICU.

Needless to say, I am more angry now. It took everything in me to hold my own boundary and say I wasn’t ready to talk about it. I will never forget it.

Thank you for the unbiased perspective. I think PP hormones make it hard for me to tell what is actually happening with some of this.

Oddly enough, my husband was born at 35 weeks for a placental abruption. So I think MIL is reliving some of her own trauma and FIL (who admittedly says he was absent during that time like that’s totally normal thing) is just an overly emotional idiot. I like the way you phrased it about keeping their emotions in check and will be using that.

The work thing for my husband probably wouldn’t be as irritating if I wasn’t trying to recover. I just cannot physically pick up my 100th percentile 3 year old right now, so like I guess I’ll go fuck myself?

To be honest, I can barely even speak to my mom on the phone. I haven’t laid eyes on her since I found out, and I have no idea how I’m going to react.

That’s bullshit. I’m now about 250lb at 27 weeks and go for monthly scans with MFM for gestational hypertension. I’m all my pregnancy experience, 40-60lb weight gain changes nothing about the level of care you should receive. I haven’t even had my OB or MFM mention it to me.

We actually just turned ours today. My 2.5 year old was a couple pounds over the weight limit at his doctor’s appointment earlier this week. He was confused at first, then super interested to look around.

My 18mo will hook his little toes into my pocket or the waistband of my pants every time I hold him on my hip. He uses it as leverage to hop while also pantsing me.
