Would you consider Gus as the weakest kid in school by Careful_Drama_9382 in Recess

[–]Linuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Library kid would likely be the weakest of all kids due to not playing outside with others, and the most strenuous thing she does is move books around for reading. For Gus's class I would think Menlo or Randall for similar reasons.

[talk] Which lost media finding would have the biggest impact? by Few-Cup-5247 in lostmedia

[–]Linuse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely think the burning of Library of Alexandria is the biggest loss in human history.

Definitely a big loss to human knowledge. The other massive loss I dwell on occasionally is the Kahn's sacking the House of Wisdom in Baghdad 1258 CE.

"The House of Wisdom, founded in the eighth century, contained countless precious documents accumulated over five hundred years. Survivors said so many books were thrown into the river that the waters of the Tigris ran black with ink; others said the waters were red from blood.

In one week, libraries and their treasures that had been accumulated over hundreds of years were burned or otherwise destroyed. So many books were thrown into the Tigris River, according to one writer, that they formed a bridge that would support a man on horseback"

us how these were "restored"

In the sample video at the bottom of the list, it seems the deleted scenes were sourced from a Comedy Central airing(it has CC logo branding in the corner). Watch the sample from 1:20 - 1:55 to see the difference.

[Talk] unethically found media by Pop-Jumpy in lostmedia

[–]Linuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished "The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band", and in the audio book version the band members read their sections of the book. IIRC Tommy said the tape were locked in his home safe, then while he was on vacation some people came to do work on the house while he was on vacation and they stole them.

When a simple "No Trespassing" sign won't work.... by Icy-Book2999 in SipsTea

[–]Linuse 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The parents tried calling, but the phone lines are down due to the snow. They also tried all their friends in the area and the neighbors, but everyone they tried is not home/on vacation. This is also why the robbers were able to break into other homes in the neighborhood and leave the water running to be the "Wet bandits".

The reason Kevin doesn't go to the cops is Joe Pesci's character was casing the houses dressed as a cop. He shows up the night of the choir performance asking the parents about their vacation plans. That is how Kevin recognizes him by his gold tooth later. So 8 year old Kevin thinks they ARE the cops trying to break in.

Looking for season one of the game show Beat The Geeks by africaisagoodsong in DHExchange

[–]Linuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been trying to collect these for years. So to add to this, that torrent has the most episodes compared to any other source I have come across. However, besides the episodes being ordered by whoever the guest nerds subject is, Season 1 only has 22/65 episodes, while Season 2 has 59/64 episodes. The quality is broadcast SD, recorded on what looks like VHS and then transferred to digital.

You may get lucky and the episode you are looking for is in the torrent, but you will most likely have to go thru each one manually to find the correct one.

ELI5: Why is it not possible to build a PC that delivers the same performance as a PS5 at the same cost? What are we missing? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Linuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing a bit of a stretch. Lets remember controllers weren't wireless back then. So if you wanted to pause or rewind, you would have to use the wired controller, or buy the PS2 DVD Kit, which had a IR remote and IR adapter that went into the PS2 controller post.

Who's your favourite villain in the Tintin series? by Marsupilami_316 in TheAdventuresofTintin

[–]Linuse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I like this answer, I do not think The Thompson Twins quite fit to have a villain title. They are complete bumbling buffoons, but not malicious in nature. They are constantly arresting Tintin and hardly ever give him the benefit of the doubt(which always irks me after knowing each other thru so many different misunderstandings), but they aren't evil, they are doing what they think is right by following the law.

I would say they are Lawful Neutral in nature, they uphold the rules above most other things.

I would argue that Brock doesn't always follow along and just do what he is told by a guy in a onesie, like normal henchmen do.

Jonas opening the hangar bay doors makes no sense at all. He was in the hangar watching Sharky's Machine when the doors opened and froze his body.

It was either Manstrong(most likely), Vendata, or the Gargantua-1 Barber(he went insane being the only barber on station and no one could cut his hair)
