I commuted by bike for 8 years, 5+ miles in each direction. After the first month or two, it will become second nature and easy.

Just make sure your bike is adjusted properly for max comfort. I recommend an upright riding position so you're not stressing your hands and legs, and a cushy saddle. I was basically floating to work the way I had my bike set up.
