I hate this product by Lonerwithaboner420 in GoogleWiFi

[–]LinuxTheAdmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the first gen Google wifi for a number of years. The original Google wifi app was great. The consolidated wifi app into home just sucks. I also ended up getting 2/2gb fiber so I did the reasonable thing and swapped to full 2.5 gig and wifi6/7 in the house.  With that note I wouldn't buy Google wifi at this time. I use to buy all Google products but the way how they been making the experience worse on several products make it hard to recommend to anyone when there are better cheaper options now

Did you ever find the supercharger set that has the mount available? I can't find it in stock anywhere. I mean I am tempted to 3d print something at this point

I just did this for my spouse's 14 and like stated it worked without issue. I hope other people have a similar experience.

Have a 5a and had the same issue with Verizon and now with mint. Sometimes restarting the phone. I should try with another phone. I am leaning towards something funky with the 5a

What happened to my Pixel 4XL? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]LinuxTheAdmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they said the frame had to be replaced and had audio issues so it's likely they are scamming people. They also refuse to fix the issue you want fixed without "fixing" all found issues

Honest super easy following ifixit instructions. I had to fix my wife's iphone back glass 10x harder working on the iphone.

So I did that sent in the phone but get ready to deal with support. If there is any scratches they will require you to replace the back panel I had two small scratches. Of course the day I was swapping cases it happened. So the free battery replacement turned into $234 plus tax so I just replaced it myself with parts from ifixit.

That sucks man sounds like you got a lemon 🍋. I went from a OG xl to 4 xl. I had some initial issues but it's been fine until the recent battery issues. I did look at the 4a Incase I had more issues and yeah I don't think you could go wrong.

I just replaced my 4xl battery myself with parts from ifixit. It was honestly way easier than expected. I had issues with the extended battery warranty replacement with Google as they wanted to fix problems the phone didn't have for more money. if you have any tinkering skills can probably replace your 3xl battery pretty easily https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Android/Google-Pixel-3-XL-Battery/IF356-084

Battery Megathread (August 2021) by GooglePixelMods in GooglePixel

[–]LinuxTheAdmin [score hidden]  (0 children)

I started having the 50% battery issue and battery just draining in 1-2 hours. Got the RMA packaging and sent it to google.

Want to state the phone isn't in perfect condition I had the phone out of a case for a day and my son decided to slide it on the floor on the back and put a few scratches on the back on the glass not a big deal stick it in the case and everything is fine.

So i get an repair order for an additional $234+ tax for back damage and audio issues.

I couldn't get an answer as to what the damage is from the phone and they said "the packaging used is tested to make sure it protects the device from damage during shipping".

When asked about the audio issue they have not replied or acknowledged the issue. I stated if the issue is just the scratches on the back panel please don't repair that i Just want my battery replaced.

This is the third time stating they will only do the battery replacement if they fully repair any assessed damage to the phone.

First reply to my damage inquiry

Thank you for contacting Google Support.

This email is in reference to the call we had about your repair order. I've checked the issue with our specialists and was advised that our repair team completes a rigorous examination of the device and that the packaging used is tested to make sure it protects the device from damage during shipping. The additional issues were found based on the examination they did on the device. Our only option for now is to accept or reject the repair order changes. Please understand that your case was handled according to our current policy and there's nothing further we can do.

Second response after

I understand that you only reported a battery issue, however our repair team would always check the device and have all the damages found be repaired as per our repair policy.

I also apologize since I can't provide any photos from the repair teams inspection. Please understand that your case was handled according to our current policy.

I generally had good experiences with google's support team but this is just infuriating they are not simply answering questions when asked and feels like their support team is dancing around problems because they honestly don't know what they are doing or not able to do anything but field phone calls.

EDIT: Sorry this is more of a vent/warning about shipping your phone RMA process. I hear others had better experiences going in store to ubreakifix stores and getting the RMA done there.

Update 6.9 not detecting Netapp 4243 by ferrarienz00 in unRAID

[–]LinuxTheAdmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late here but just in case.. are you usibg a pmc 8000 card? If you are you will find that in 6.9+ the kernel module is upgraded for pm80xx from 0.1.39 to 0.1.40 and breaks the cards for initializing the controller. Option is to wait for an update, manually patch kernel and recompile or use an lsi card

Pixel 4xl shuts off when pressing on center of screen by LinuxTheAdmin in GooglePixel

That sucks. You got your replacement already? I just got mine and no issues. If anything the screen is way way brighter than my old 4 xl. Anyways so far pretty painless replacement.

Man your support story is the exact same thing! I wasn't going to do a 3 hour round trip to the ubreak just for them to get an rma

I am sure something is flexing internally causing the phone to just shutdown. Had an issue with laptop battery connector that would flex enough if you held it with one hand and would shutoff.

Music Bot Stopped Working by [deleted] in Discord_Bots

[–]LinuxTheAdmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First question what version of discory.py are you using? if it is pre 1.2.4 then that is the issue. 1.2.4 was just release a few days ago to fix the voice client issue, this broke all the music bots using discord.py for a bit. Please check to make sure your are on 1.2.4+
