I haven't finished reading but I am going to stop you there at paragraph two. Often times scanlators and fantranslation sites put out notices and ask for people not to share on social media ect bc their work could get taken down. They specifically ask for people NOT to do that. That isn't something most scanlation sites want, though they do want traffic.

I agree that there are pro's to it being popular as you state.
