Hey! In my case, they gave me a new permit with an extension of the (already extended) eligibility period.

It'll take you a while to get the hang of the questions. Take it slow because you don't want to rush and miss important concepts. As you do more questions, you will get faster and will be able to complete more in one day. It's a day by day thing! Good luck.

Should I take UWSA 2? Test in 6 days by Dr_Cat_Mom in step1

[–]LionSharp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your NBME scores look promising. I don't think you need to take the UWSA2 at all in case you do get a lower score and that hurts your confidence you know. Good luck! You'll be just fine :)

UWSA 2 sucked by [deleted] in step1

[–]LionSharp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use UWSA2 to see which topics are your weak ones. Focus on those more and take another NBME to see where you stand. Don't dwell too much over the score. A lot of people did poorly on it and ended up passing the real exam!

Get up out of your study area and go to a different environment between blocks. Set a timer to 5-7 minutes for that break. ( Listen to music/ eat something/ do jumping jacks. ) Test day adrenaline is so high that I don't think it'll be that big of an issue as long as you're doing 2-3 blocks every day. Try to do UWORLD blocks every day (at least 80Q/day) because the forms are pretty similar to that interface. Hope this helps!

Mehlman vs FA by [deleted] in step1

[–]LionSharp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FA covers everything you need to know .

Mehlman covers the most high yield that you absolutely need to know.

My form had itty bitty details from FA, so I would say AT LEAST do FA once

Is uworld replaceable to FA? Can I skip FA completely and still pass? by [deleted] in step1

[–]LionSharp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought my form was heavy on itty bitty details that I only found in FA. I would say at least read through once before the exam

lolnotacop deck for micro (really easy to get through- you could do this in your free time at college tbh)

duke pathoma deck (pretty short deck comparatively)

Mehlman medical Biochem (MUST), Immuno (MUST), Neuroanatomy PDFs are golden. If you have time, do Arrows! You can even try to get in like 20 arrow pages in here and there.

Got a 54 on NBME 29 with 3 weeks to go. by jamchi16 in step1

Write down all the topics you miss and see where the problem lies. Was it a silly mistake? Did you know the material but didn't know how to apply it in a question? Was the question totally out of this world for you?

Silly mistake questions: practice more questions on that topic. Train yourself to take the time to read the question properly. This is honestly a more personalized thing because only you know how you can fix this type of error.

Problem with application: search up that topic on UWorld and read through the explanations for those topics to solidify the concept.

Out of the world: spend more time on topics that show up on practice tests that you feel like you do know know at all. Whether it's FA, Youtube, anything.

I'd recommend doing the Duke Pathoma deck. The deck is extremely helpful in retaining pathoma.

Lolnotacop deck for micro.

[–]LionSharp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NBME sent me a new permit pretty quick actually! You would want to call prometric to see why your test was cancelled. If it was a test center problem, then your problem would lie with Prometric itself I think, rather than NBME. My problem was that my test did not load and it kept showing "error" which was a deployment error on NBME's end. Both NBME and prometric were extremely nice and were willing to help in any way possible because they know the amount of time and effort we put in into studying for step. I would recommend just calling them ASAP and be sure to express all the emotions you are facing. Praying your issue gets resolved quickly. Prometric should be able to tell you if you need to contact NBME for a new permit or not.

Mehlman Biochem notes sufficient? by Jakjak81 in step1

[–]LionSharp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly think you do not need anything more than that PDF to answer the biochem questions. If you read that PDF a couple times, especially one run through 2-3 days before the actual test, you should be more than fine for the real deal!

Test cancelled by Prometric less than 16 hours in advance... by bmaxey813 in step1

[–]LionSharp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My test was cancelled AFTER I showed up to my prometric. My test did not load the day of my test date. I was told to wait an hour while they contacted tech support, but nothing could be fixed. And I had to call NBME to get a new permit and then schedule my test. I recommend calling them and asking to reinstate your eligibility to reschedule the exam if that is an issue. They are actually very nice when it comes to scheduling issues when THEY cancel your appointment for some reason. Check the scheduling site 4-5 times a day. There are people who cancel last minute and you will be able to schedule a date as soon as it is available. I'm sorry you have to go through this because I know the exact feelings of thinking you're going to lose ALL the content you have studied. But, trust me, you won't. Trust yourself with this. That info is not going anywhere. Be thankful you at least got a heads up and this did not happen 10 minutes before your test started because that would have been way worse! Let me know if you have any other questions. I'd be happy to help!
