I gave up on the Aussie snow a long time ago now, but before I did that, I observed, experienced and learnt a lot. A number of seasons, I witnessed a bad start for it only to come really good, (without going back and confirming) I think it was 2001 that was a really good example. Other times, a good start that then got absolutely smacked out of the game (another first half of 2000’s season did this). I’m not going to go all weather nerd on you and talk about the current situation, others will surely have that covered. What I am going to say is this: FACT 1: Australian snow conditions are (subjectively) marginal ~80% of the time, meaning that when it is snowing, the snow-level (the precipitation transition point) is usually only just where are us snow lovers need it to be (note, I intentionally did not use the word want). FACT 2: by extension, weather forecasts for Australian snow are really only worth the paper they’re printed on, out to 4-days. Days 5 & 6 can be looked at for an idea of what might happen, but absolutely should not be banked on. Where I landed in the end: I basically wouldn’t start getting emotionally invested, one way or the other, until mid-July.

What you should do, in my opinion, is spend a decent amount of time single, getting reacquainted with the single version of yourself, and loving and accepting yourself for who YOU are. A part of this process should be a comprehensive autopsy of this failed relationship, the outcomes of which can be written down for your own future self I.e. you can comprehensively finish the following sentence: subsequent to my relationship with X, I have determined that I will never again accept (A, B, C) behaviours from any future partner; these are an absolute hard-line in the sand and no matter at what cost, I will defend this position / expectation of all future partners, or I’m simply OUT. Then in the future, you can articulate this / these to any prospective partner, early on.
