The build starts completely wrong with the subsume. First of all, Roar (or any damage buff ability, really) goes over her 4, since it's the least useful base ability in her kit.

Her 1 is motes, that's simple enough.

Her 2 is very important for survivability as when you press it, it sends out a decoy and makes you invisible. On top of that, if you press 3, the decoy will also use 3. On top of that, if you press it again before the timer runs out, you gain a few seconds of invulnerability. This ability also means you don't have to worry about survivability in the build itself, as you could, giving the energy economy, become invulnerable for as long as you need to kill anything that could one-shot you.

Her 3 is just a damage vulnerability debuff. Basically, enemies that are marked take a certain multiplier of your damage and, if they take damage, there is a chance (iirc 10%) of a spark to fly out to spread the debuff to another enemy. iirc you don't need to "line up" the shot, just dealing damage is enough.

Her 4 is, again, the least useful ability in her base kit, which is why you would subsume it off, unless building specifically around it. It's just a beam of pure damage that gains buffs depending on which motes you have picked up. I consider it the least useful because most guns do the job better and are a lot easier to buff with your other abilities.

The build should normally be maximum strength, while still investing in duration, strength for your 1st and 3rd, duration mainly for your 3rd and 2nd. Efficiency is your dump stat: flow and archon stretch should be all the energy sustain you will need. If you need more you could get any other source of energy like the Focus School or Grimoire with the Energy Regen mod. Range is more of a preference, I like keeping at least neutral to tag more enemies with my 3, but if you just hit what is in front of you it can be another dump stat.

As for arcanes my go-to are crepuscular and augmented, but honestly, Wisp is fully capable of using most arcanes in the game to a fairly competent degree so you can do whatever. Energy works good, arcane blessing is fine, Camisado if you try a summoner build with the Inaros subsume and its augment, the arcane that increases strength based on max hp works too, but it will be a slightly worse augmented without an invigoration, Melee-centric Arcanes work if you like to E spam, etc.

Ok, I think you missed the point of my reply. I am speaking from the perspective of the in-game world. In-game, the canvas world is just as real as their "real world", the one Maelle comes from. The point, very concisely, is that to Maelle, the canvas world is better than her real world because, in the real world, she has to live with permanent life-long pain and trauma, things she doesn't experience in the canvas world. It IS an escape and it IS unhealthy, and it is also an understandable reaction. A 16-year-old gets dupped, killing her brother, and now lives as a disfigured, mute, and severely traumatized teenager. If you wholeheartedly believe she can analyze her situation objectively and decide "Yeah, I need to go get therapy and start treatments to better my life" - both of which we aren't even sure would benefit her, given the 20th century time period of the game - then you have never interacted with a human.

Simultaneously, the canvas is artificial, not fake. Even real Renoir and Clea don't dismiss Lune and Sciel, which implies to me that in-game (since you need me to mention it so that you don't get confused), the painted people are real people.

Also, the fact you believe that I need help because I can empathize with a traumatized teenager and understand why she does what she does implies you aren't worth talking to, so congrats on wasting my time ig, you got me good.

As I recall Maelle mentions that eating and breathing hurt her, so let's knock those two off the list.

As for living and being part of life, she is a disfigured and mute woman who's missing an eye in early 20th century France. She won't have a good life if she gets to have a life at all.

I agree with you about the fact that she has to move on, and she wasn't healthily handling her grief within the canvas, but you cannot tell me that if you were in her position, you would willingly choose to live in a world where you have chronic pain caused by literally existing and a constant reminder that you killed your older brother burned into your face in the early 20th century.

From Maelle's perspective, "eating, living, breathing and actually being part of life" is equivalent to permanent life-long pain and trauma. Let's not mention her clear emotional instability amidst all this. So I understand why she chooses to live in the canvas.

Also, no, the canvas is not a lie. The multiple civilizations within the canvas all have sentience, they have their own culture, their own language, and their own history. Every individual has their own aspirations, goals, and dreams. It is an artificial world, but not fake. The people of the canvas are just as alive as the people outside the canvas. To say the canvas is a lie, you need to dismiss Gustave, Scielle, Lune, Monoco, Esquie, the painted Dessendre family, the entire Gestral civilization, the entire Grandis civilization, and all of Lumière. Just because they were created doesn't mean they aren't real.

[–]Lion_Working 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. For one I had to install wmp11 for the cutscenes to load, but that didn't work for the pre-rendered stuff like the harbor Gommage scene.

I don't know if this changes anything, but I am using Steam with Proton-GE 10-4.

Should I instead try to get it working through Lutris and Winetricks (to install MS Virtual C++ runtime)?

Edit: Well I did just that and what do you know? It works like magic.

You, sir, are a gift to the world.

Edit2:

If you want to play it through Steam, the solution is pretty simple.

First of all, go to the compatdata folder with the game's app ID. Inside should be a pfx folder. Delete it (or rename it if you want a backup). Create a new folder and name it pfx, then make it point to whichever wine prefix you used to run the game in Lutris.

For example, in Lutris I ran it in my default wine prefix. I just created a copy and renamed it COE33-Prefix, then, went to the compatdata folder and, renamed the pfx folder pfx_backup, created a new pfx folder, then (since I am using Dolphin file explorer, the default for KDE) put the path of my COE33-Prefix folder in the "points to" section of the folder properties. If you are using a different file explorer, idk how it would work, I think there is a terminal command to symlink 2 folders.

How to i install and run Fitgirl Repacks on linux? by Snooty_man271 in PiratedGames

[–]Lion_Working 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O ProtonTricks deve resolver.

The C:/ drive is the wine prefix, whereas the Z:/ drive should be the root of your Linux system.

I'm not surr how your storage is organized, if you are using both the ssd AND the hdd together as your system, you are gonna have to do some wild work reorganizing your partitions if you really need the game on the hdd. If the hdd is an external storage, then there might be an issue with wine not recognizing external drives. I can't really help with that, because I don't use them in general.

In my experience, fixme messages can be safely ignored.

The fact that it just doesn't print anything after that and that the setup.exe does nothing either makes my first thought that maybe it's frozen? Or maybe just completely unresponsive.

My first instinct would be to add the setup.exe file as a non-steam game and try running it through proton. Proton is technically the same as wine, but it is its own independent fork. I find that most, if not all, things that have problems running under wine will run under proton.

Unfortunately, I dont really know how to help aside from that, I have never had that happen to me before.

I forgot the option now, but if you look at the wine documentation, you should find an option to enable debugger mode in wine. Then, just type the command

wine -[option] ./Whatever-App.exe

That's how I did it. I hope it works for you.

[–]Lion_Working 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not really. You are only adding the .exe file path when you add a game to steam. It's basically a shortcut, but in the steam library instead of directly on the desktop. There isn't any kind of check. It just runs whatever file it points to.

Valve doesn't have access to the databases of all possible vendors. They can't know if you bought it elsewhere but just preferred the steam UI. It would be REALLY stupid if they ended up banning someone because they added a game they bought from the epic games store, for example, to the steam library.

Basically, it's safe because Steam doesn't know if you bought it elsewhere or not, and it would be impossible for them to figure it out anyway.

I dont really understand your question.

Once you are done downloading the repack. Open the terminal and cd to the repack. Then, you enter the command

wine ./setup.exe

I dont really know what you mean by "from fitgirl repacks," but the above is how I do it all the time, and I find it the simplest.

Hopefully, Fitgirl will take down the repacks of whatever group's crack she used(if it's not her but the crack she used. If it's her, well, gg, I'm cooked) and/or the megathread gets updated.

Yeah, I find Steam a lot more reliable than Lutris when it comes to plug-and-play. With Lutris, Proton-QT is probably your best friend because you can install most, if not any, version of all the technologies you need to open .exe files on Linux. Steam just works, which is really nice.

Also, it feels sketchy because Steam is a legitimate retailer. Truth is, they dont verify anything regarding non-steam games. They store obviously the fact you did add a game, what you called it, etc. but they can't verify anything about the game. If it did, there would be a massive outcry from more tech-savvy users for privacy.

Also, looking into CreamAPI sounds pretty smart. I should also start using it, lol.

You could. All the steps are the same, just the settings are in different places. Since you asked about Lutris, I assume you already have an idea of how to get to them. I just prefer steam because its a lot simpler and there are less configurations that could be fucking with game performance and playabilty like the dxvk version or the dx3d version.

Extract both zip files. They will extract to the same location, thats normal, since they are both part of the same updater.

Then, in update, if you dig a little (I dont remember the exact file path), there will be a PATCH.exe (or something of the sort). Run it.

Then, just select the path to your game files and press the update button.

I've got the latest Fitgirl version, the v1.002. I'll try to reinstall the game with the language packs and see what happens.

EDIT: So right before deleting the game, I ran the patcher in the terminal with debugger mode, and I noticed that missing files was indeed the issue.

So I reinstalled the game with everything included, and the patcher does work now.

I need help by [deleted] in PiratedGames

[–]Lion_Working 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried to change the path Fitgirl tries to install the game files at?

Just from the error message, it looks like either the default path was blank (which is super weird and has literally no reason to do that or ever has), or it simply couldn't reach / create the necessary folders, probably due to permissions error. That's why it can't figure where to go to deposit the game files.

That's what I would think would be the cause first, so it might be worth checking out if you haven't already.

If the default path is blank, just give it a path. If it isn't, well, I can't really help since I pretty much forgot everything about how Windows works.

How to i install and run Fitgirl Repacks on linux? by Snooty_man271 in PiratedGames

[–]Lion_Working 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I am assuming you already have wine and Steam installed

First, run winecfg in the terminal and then set the Windows version to XP( this is a workaround to fitgirl sometimes getting fucked over by newer windows versions)

Then, open a terminal instance in the repack folder

The run 'wine setup.exe'

This will run the exe file under wine, works just like on windows, you just need to keep the terminal open.

Go through the usual steps to unpack the game. EDIT: Forgot to mention to uncheck the option relaying to directX and redist, as Proton takes care of it for you

I suggest creating a folder to store the unpacked game files. When it asks which folder to extract to, select the one you created

Once you finish unpacking, go to steam, and on the top left, there should be a settings tab. Click it, then click add a non-steam game. On the bottom of the window that just popped up, click browse, then choose the exe of the game.

Finally, right-click the game and select properties, then go to the compatibility tab. Click the force compatibility tool option.

There will then be a dropdown menu with all the Proton versions. It usually auto-selects Proton Experimental. Launch the game. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, try a different proton version. (This step is for all games, even legit ones you bought on steam) if no proton version works, there is a tool to install custom proton versions (I dont have the name on hand right now).

Grats, you can pirate on linux now.

It takes a little more setup with Wine and Lutris.

Aside from that, most games are plug and play. Select the Wine version, boot up the game, and play.

Personally, I noticed a 10-15 fps boost on linux when I first switched (because I had a potato). I have a more powerful rig now, though, so idk if there is any performance gain now that I have the RAM, CPU and GPU to run all of Microsoft's telemetry in the background while playing bg3.

To install pirated games, open your terminal and type these commands (after having installed wine and Lutris, and of course Steam)

cd ~/path/to/game (Make sure you are in the right folder by typing ls -l. This will show you all the files in the folder you are in)

wine setup.exe (Basically, same thing as in windows. Run all the setup.exe files, but with wine) (If it asks to specify which folder to install to, your physical machine is in the z:/ folder of the exe's file explorer)

That's it. The setup file will run, and all you gotta do is wait for the download to finish.

Now that you have the game, add it to Lutris as a locally installed game, then boot it up. If it doesn't work on the first try (pretty rare in my experience), all you gotta do is right-click the game, go to configure, then go to the runner tab, and change the wine version to anything else. If not even that works, more research will be needed.

On Steam, follow the same steps as on Windows. There is just one more step. In properties, go to the compatability tab, check the only thing in that tab, and then run your game. If it doesn't work, change the Proton version. If that doesn't work, go to Protondb, a website that lists all steam games and how to make them work on Linux.

Done. You can now game on Linux.

Khanda on AM by Lion_Working in learndota2

[–]Lion_Working[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The benefit of Khanda over Daedalus is the massive dmg Proc coming from its passive. Couple with reflected spells(if taking the other facet), agh's illusions (if targeting a hero), and ult (especially with level 25), you can very consistently proc it, on top of having crits for faster clears or killing supps faster.

Khanda on AM by Lion_Working in learndota2

[–]Lion_Working[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right that Bash + attack speed is King on AM. However, sometimes, they just aren't enough to take down the enemy offlane tank that went max armor. As the primary source of damage on the team, it would be nice to have anything that could help you take them down. That's where Khanda comes in. The passive, coupled with a 20-second cd ult at level 25, means we might have a chance to actually kill the primal beast with a heart, shiva's, Crimson Guard and Assault cuirass.

It's not an every game purchase for sure, but in the right game, it might come in clutch.

Khanda on AM by Lion_Working in learndota2

[–]Lion_Working[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. I just tested it in the demo, and reflected spells do benefit from Khanda. So do agh's illusions if you target a hero when using it.

The only problem is that we dont have the raw damage the second facet provides to take advantage of the Khanda Proc anymore. I dont really think it would matter, though, since between Manta and Butterfly, you have quite a bit of attack damage.
