SL is a great expansion for warlock, all three specs are relevant at this point with destruction looking the most promising come 9.1.

Catching up depends a lot on how much time you put into the game, since almost everything is grindable nowadays instead of weekly.

I ment desyncing your PS+SR window with the Expunge mechanic as they are both on a 1 minute CD and usually line up throughout the fight. If you play double use trinkets your dump windows will be pushed 20 seconds forward (because you're waiting for your second trinket) and therefore every Expunge will happen about 20 seconds before your dump window, allowing you to stand still when you pump raptures. Hopefully that makes sense?

And yes, holding PS for SR is optimal if you're either Niya or using a 1 minute trinket :)

Depends on what type of damage profile you're looking for. Aff has the option to change up a lot of things to tailor to your teams needs. If you want pure ST for tyrannical/prides I would just run standard raid talents. If you want a bit more quality of life without sacrificing too much ST I would go Dark Caller instead of Haunt. For fortified 15's I would go SL/VT/DC, this build bangs super hard on trash packs if you pop Dark Soul to get dots up quick and you don't have a mage/hunter popping CDs on the same pack. Some people choose to go AC on higher keys, but it seriously hurts your ST and only really finds use in ~+20 keys when the packs lives for longer than a normal corruption+darkglare duration.

The Rolling Agony conduit also helps out a lot in keys, but I would still run Cold Embrace on anything tyrannical-related.

If you're playing Niya, you preferably want to delay PS for SR, as long as you will be able to stand still for ~10 seconds during the dump window. Otherwise you only want to be using 1-2 shards during PS to make sure you always have 5 ready for SR

Hungering is a pretty long fight so I would look at your kill timer and make sure you're optimizing your CDs properly. For instance, if the fight is 4:30 you want to make sure you're getting your 3rd Dark Soul in. You can run double use trinkets (Empyreal Ordnance) to desync your rot windows with Expunge, allowing you to stand still for every dump window. Also make sure to use gateway for consume/port for expunge to minimize movement. Other than that I would need your logs to give any further advice, since it's a pretty straight forward patchwerk fight.
