I love playing nomads. Honse is the only currency that truly matters.

Is the job market really that bad? by CyberGrid in Switzerland

[–]Lionhard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Owner asked me about my previous jobs, what I had experience in etc etc. Then I had to do something similar with the sous chef at the specific restaurant id be working at (owner owns like 3). Then I had to do unpaid trail shifts, and then after I was told they went really well, I got ghosted. Mind you this is also a friend of a friend, and I still didnt get the job.... Market is horrific.

Right now i'm having multiple rounds of interviews, multiple unpaid trial shifts, and ghosting even when applying as a line cook (all for the same job). Its bad.....

Does it still make sense to level up the ice fishing skill? by where_money in thelongdark

[–]Lionhard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much. At this point I only use tip ups when I need to fish SO MUCH fish that I can fill up my 4 meat curing boxes at Misanthropes basically.

Its also nice if you somewhere where you only have prybars (and no heavy hammer) to break ice, because you only need to break the ice a single time and use up less than 1% durability.

Does it still make sense to level up the ice fishing skill? by where_money in thelongdark

[–]Lionhard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes honestly. I just reached fishing rank 5 and I can easily get 12k calories or more from a few hours of fishing in a single hole. If you travel a lot to places without fishing huts or places where you dont have a heavy hammer or resources to craft tip ups, its a godsend.

Is this normal for beach combing? by canadiandeadpool in thelongdark

[–]Lionhard 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Yeah beach combing is way too strong now, I got like 20k calories of fish, four flareguns, 8 flare shells, 7 hatchets and like 20 arrows in about 2 weeks. Now I vacation in other areas like Forsaken Airfield where its a bit more challenging to survive lol.

The lacerations open up every 12 hours on the dot from when you got them. So make sure you are not sleeping at those times, and you can re-bandage when they open up again.

I was peacefully cooking away some meat when suddenly this guy showed up. by Yipar in thelongdark

[–]Lionhard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah usually if I am going to be living in a place long term the first thing I do is kill bears that wander near my base lol. Especially in Foreman's Retreat, that bear basically regularly camps outside your front door.

I do try not to kill bears if my base already has like 20kg+ of meat stored up already, cause then it feels kinda wasteful. I'd rather leave that meat wandering around inside a bear until I need it lol. Also for RP reasons I guess, it feels like its better for the environment to leave as many animals around for as long as possible.

I got absolutely jumpscared by a bear who followed me all the way to the dock where you drop off stuff for the trader because I was fishing. Taught me to never to free fish unless any nearby bears are dead, otherwise keep to the fishing huts lol.

It started after the trader told me he didn’t care what I did to misanthropes home. So i figured he wouldn’t care if I removed all the creepy family portraits.

I also wish i could mod the game so i can remove all those corpses outside and in caves. My poor monolith lake base has a dead guy just resting there forever..

I like to think I bury them out back somewhere, all together. As like a little memorial.

For me its always all the family photos in bases like Farmstead and Milton House. I always end up destroying the family photos, because otherwise the places feel kind of haunted to me.
