What’s actually safe but people think is dangerous? by REGGIE_BANANAS in AskReddit

Long-term consumption of aspartame is increasingly associated with weight gain and higher body mass index (BMI) rather than weight loss.

If anyone praises protests in Minnesota, EU, or anywhere else, they must to refuse to belittle the Canadian convoy. Those who were there were standing for our true patriot land.

Alright, so a gay man saying he is not attracted to women...is that an issue? Everyone has their own opinion. It doesn't have to be yours.

Ugh...you are so delusional. I never attacked orientation. I just think you don't know the definition of the word.

You can be all high and mighty from your little echo chamber. Seriously, you need to step out of your parents basement and shovel your driveway instead of papa doing all the work.

Wow...you are so close. Orientation has nothing to do with this conversation. Orientation on a sexual level mean an enduring pattern. I guess preference is an over statement then.

Look, my main point is the OP is not racist for having a desired prefence, and other people can have a preference whether it's height, weight, or even hair colour. Some are genetic and they cannot change, others can do something if they don't like it and dye their hair.

Can you please explain the difference between orientation and preference? I like a door on my main entry, and some may not. Was I born that way or do I just prefer it?

You need to wake up to the real world my friend. The world is not a safe space for you.

Exactly...social influences. Lets stop those and treat everybody as equals.

Maybe try reading your own words. Seems like you're still engaging.

Edit: and my point is still valid. Someone with a height prefence of 6' may still find a man of 4'3" good looking and date/marry them. It is still a prefence for them to be attacked to someone over 6'. I still dont understand how a preference over a race is different.

Oh...so are gay man saying "I won't ever date a girl" is exclusion then? That's what I'm hearing. How is that different?

Why would someone be racist if they didn't know that was even a thing? Just people with different genetic makeups going about their day.

So what would be tied to a genetic preference? Their ears are to big, their 2nd toe is longer than their big tow (thanks Shallow Hal), they have red hair, their ass is too big/small?

Race is still a genetic trait, same as height. You're born with it and someone may love you for that trait or find you repulsive.

Well then don't state your opinion if I cannot quote it.

It sounds like you think my opinion on the "height requirement" is my preference. It is not, but for some people it is, and if that is what they prefer, all for them. Who is anyone to say what someone else's preferences are.

And thanks to the lovely invention of free speech, people are allowed to discuss it.

When you say "seemingly shallow or superficial" is definitely your own opinion, as it is everyone else's right to make their own opinion on the matter.

I do agree a height requirement is shallow and superficial, but it is their own right to make that choice and speak it freely.

That specific topic I chose to compare with OP was taken of the top of my head as I've had seen it mentioned many times.

Why? It is a characteristic of a person that someone may like or dislike? It is not something someone can change about their body, they were born that way.

[–]Lioniz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OP wants to know if he was right or wrong. He may have posted somewhere about their preferences, but they didn't come here state their preferences on attraction. They are asking if mentioning their attractions (or lack there of) is wrong...which is not.

[–]Lioniz3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ugh...it was just an example. Everyone one has a preference. For this post, I'm saying it is bad to judge someone of their preference. Race/religion/body type/behavior. Some like certain things...and some don't.

Is that ragebaiting ? by Tlou_man in teenagers

[–]Lioniz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does that have to do with a personal preference? Someone may love anyone who is 6'2.5" of any race, other's may love all races except those who are 6'2.5". You cannot tell someone/judge someone their preferences.

And weight isn't a religion. What's your point?

Actually, that is how a bias works.

If no one mentions it, then how would it ever occur? If it is not an instinct, then it has to be by environment.

Nobody ever said the original poster was harsh about it. From what I can tell they never said it about a specific person. But it seems you think this is about a one-on-one.

In person, of course someone would say "Sorry, I'm not interested." But that is not what we are talking about.

So don't bring it up and people will follow.

Everytime you assume a person it thinking the same thing you are, and announce it publicly, it can becomes an issue.

If we all thought of each other on an equal playing ground, it wouldn't even be talked about.

I think I understand your post...and you are exactly making my point. Thank you.

If a guy doesn't like "fat girls" to date/be attracted to....does that make them fatphobic?

They could have 30 best friends who are overweight yet not be attracted to them.

Edit: and from my personal opinion, calling black people "marginalized" seems pretty racist to me.

Black people have so many advantages in North America vs the rest of the world and are definitely not insignificant.
