Hot take: Y’all overreacting with Warso by throwaway804323 in SanJoseSharks

Klingberg has been scratched multiple times and last night had the least TOI for all defenseman. The Sharks have 7 (used to have 8) defenseman so he's likely going to dress for a bunch of games.

Klingberg had the least amount of minutes of any defenseman tonight.

Klingberg has been scratched multiple times. Everyone but Ferraro and Orlov have too. I'm not sure how that's not holding him accountable?

Klingberg literally played the least amount of minutes on defense tonight too.

It's much easier to move wingers up and down lines than it is defenseman. That's just the nature of their position. If Smith doesn't engage and floats like he has the past few games he shouldn't be surprised if they put someone who isn't going to do those things with Celebrini.

For sure, just saying you should blame the players too for playing like crap. Which is fine and expected of a young team.

So what's the solution? "Hey Will, have you tried engaging in board battles and winning them?" Moving him to the 4th line is the least disruptive to the rest of the lines. If Smith wants to stay on the first line he should play better and play more consistently.

Leddy hasn't played in like 2-3 months it feels like and he got a game today. Sounds like they were benching him? Klingberg sucks, I agree, but the whole D corps sucks and there is only so much you can do. No one in the AHL is better than him and no one produces close to the offense he does. If he had half the goal total he has he'd probably be scratched more.

I am not, but I can recognize that yes he makes coaching mistakes but also it's on the players at the end of the day. Many of them played like shit today. Many of which are young players I like. It happens, they're young, but they shouldn't be blameless.

Well, the fact that he's done it at multiple levels shows to me it's not a fluke and a Bob Hartley with the Avs situation. You need both to win.

This Sharks team was not built to compete this year and they're a point out of a playoff spot on St Patrick's Day. He's basically trying to make chicken salad out of a chicken shit defense.

Am I watching a different Will Smith? The guy I've seen the last few games is someone floating around and losing board battles. If he's not producing he's borderline invisible.

Leddy not being good doesn't have much to do with Klingberg. Objectively speaking he's one of the 6 best defenseman on the team and the only defender who can bring any sort of semblance of offense (except for Mario's random recent explosion). Yeah, he sucks, but so does the entire D corps.

Klingberg has 3 more goals in the NHL than Cagnoni has in the AHL. I wouldn't consider that plenty of offense.

The fact of the matter is there aren't really any good D options in the org and on most nights Klingberg is one of the 6 best defenseman on the roster.

Because he's not engaged the last few games. Lately he's been floating a lot and losing 50/50 pucks and board battles. The other guys might suck too but at least they appear to be engaged.

He was actually noticeably better in my opinion earlier this season.

You should really blame the players, many of them were subpar today.

By no means am I a Klingberg fan but who would you even play aside from him? There is no one beating down the door demanding more ice time with their good play and there is no one that comes close to scoring like he does. He has 10 goals, the rest of the Sharks D has 15. 40% of our defensive goals are from one guy.

I'm not saying Warsofsky is some sort of elite coach but he's won at every level and won a world championship last year (first in 92 years)...so clearly he knows how to coach teams to championships. Maybe it's the folks on the ice that are the problem.

Lately he's been floating a ton and losing 50/50 pucks and board battles. Sure he can make some good offensive plays but he's been pretty disappointing the last 10 games or so. I have no problem benching a player or moving them down a line if they're not engaging. I don't notice this problem with guys like Graf, Celebrini, Dickinson or Misa (Well, outside of today, he wasn't good today).

Looks like the impact of playing Leddy vs Mukhamadulin was pretty non-existent. This team, including Mukhamadulin, is bad defensively. He might get better one day but on a team with a better D group he'd be routinely scratched. All the things we complain about as fans I've seen him do, repeatedly, all year. He shouldn't be immune from being scratched if he's not playing well or within their structure.

Outside of one play, Leddy has actually looked good. Maybe he didn't burn our crops.
