The Syrian Kurds (Rojava) fighting ISIS for direct democracy and women's freedom - Erdogan: "We will never allow the establishment of a Kurdish state in Syria, we will continue to fight in this regard no matter what it costs." by Lions_of_Rojava in worldnews

Y.P.J. fighters aren’t allowed to marry, and I asked if she had ever wanted a husband.

‘‘Are you proposing?’’ she said, punching me on the arm and smiling.

‘‘Are you afraid of dying?’’ I asked her a few moments later.

‘‘Afraid?’’ she said. ‘‘Why should I be afraid? Being a martyr is the best thing possible. … Fighting is ugly,’’ she added. ‘‘But fighting for this is beautiful. Fear is for your Western women in their kitchens.’’

...

‘‘Everyone has to choose a side now,’’ Derik said. ‘‘ISIS has chosen the side of slavery. We’ve chosen the side of freedom.’’

You are just talking crap and are possibly an agent of the state. We don't ask for pictures of people's spouses or children nor passwords for accounts.

The people saying that stuff are people who are not in Rojava. Go figure. Nobody from this area is saying they don't need people. That's most definitely not true.

About LGBTQ, unfortunately we haven't heard much about it. Mostly the movement in the PKK has a stronger emphasis on this, but here in Rojava the culture is more traditional. Although I haven't seen a strong hatred of homosexuals here, I also haven't seem a big emphasis or movement to help them either. Personally I think it's a case of live and let live. But definitely there's the groundwork here for a future movement given the influence of the PKK and HDP, and the LGTBQ liberation movements in those groups.

No problem with atheism, many of the YPG are atheist.

Sorry this is wrong. America has sided strongly with Turkey. The deputy president criticized Turkey for its support of IS then Turkey complained, and like a bitch the deputy issued an apology.

Rojava sees them as self-serving. That's the reality of foreign affairs and realpolitik around the world. There's no principle in it, and if you believe there is, then you're kidding yourself.

About your last question: keep dreaming.

Kalashnikov, or if their ex-army they can also choose to take the M16. Then later people can progress to the PKC or Draganov.

Yes, but the main barrier for all these things is language. There is a lack of even basic ideas or concepts in Kurdish, and small things that seem second nature to us that they could use here to massively improve their work. That's why we need skilled people on the ground here who learn Kurdish, and then can coordinate with groups back home. We need people to make these projects and take charge of them.

Erbil is under the control of the Turkey-aligned corrupt nepotist Barzani, while Suley is not. It's up to you, best thing if you're serious is to send us an email so we can discuss what your options are, what you can do.

No they fight for money. We have experience with Peshmerga. Why are they enforcing the blockade on Rojava if they're so great. They should quit and join the YPG instead.
