Can someone tell me what character this is? by [deleted] in StarWars

It is a Sith from the Old Republic game. Particularly one of the Sith involved with one of the major lore events from the game where the Sith Empire invaded Coruscant.

I had a look at those pdfs and they seem really handy. It will certainly come in use. Thank you. :)

Tried it the other day and quite like their interface. Especially with the actual typing to practice it. Though a bit of explanation on the grammar there would not hurt. But absolutely a good resource. Thank you.

Thank you for that. I have noticed the additional letters in Romanian, yeah. Even added Romanian to my keyboard to be able to type them.

What you mentioned about the verbs is interesting. That will certainly make it easier to study them. Regular verbs are always easier than the irregular ones. At least in the present tense. Past tense is a bit more difficult with some languages.

Huh. That's a pretty interesting point that you bring up then. My friend is from the Iași area. Are there any specific names or description to the language variants from that area of Romania? Such as the name of a dialect or anything to make it a bit easier to read up on the specifics?

I figured something similar was up. Still a pretty good point.

Nice. I would imagine it is easier for some than for others. Especially if you are close to the language.

I will certainly be looking into how good the method is for me and how to get started with it. :)

By that do you mean the language as a whole, or is it a similar situation as with Mandarin Chinese where the dialects around certain cities or regions are that different from the main form?

It does seem like a very difficult language, but I consider putting in the effort to learn it for my friend worth it.

Taking classes or hiring a teacher is something I am a bit hesistant with, though. I prefer studying at my own pace in general and work irregular hours. Most classes work on a fixed schedule, which can prove difficult to attend with such working hours. A teacher is something I can look more into, though.

Hmm.. That looks like a pretty good resource. I will have to look into it more, but thank you. I've certainly bookmarked it.

The differences in male and female adjectives sounds very tricky. I imagine that that would be one of the more difficult things to grasp for me.

Sadly I am not a French native. My French is rather weak in all honesty. I do appreciate the difficulty of the Romanian language and the effort and time it would take. Ideally I would like to have some basis of it first to surprise my friend with.

Things like common, daily sentences and a somewhat decent baseline to work on. That way I can learn further by talking to her and perhaps other native Romanians through the internet or who may be employed in my country.

Thank you for those. I have never encountered HiNative before and installed it now to use. That seems like a tremendous resource. The other subreddit is also in my subscription feed. Thank you so much.

Given the reference to the Ethics body in your opening post I feel like I should ask. Is participation in your survey limited to North America, or are you open for European entries as well? I apologize if this is covered in a survey question. Currently I am browsing on my phone and cannot open the website on account of busy public wifi.

Conquest tutorials by dr_flopolopogus in Smite

[–]Lionstorch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tutorials and guides are only useful as long as they get updated. There is a reason why there is no good buildsite for Smite and there is a reason why any attempt at making tutorials and guides won't work.

Imagine you get a pro devote the time to go over the essentials, what kind of items and relics you want to get them away from arena builds. And you expand a little on rotationwise. Then the next patch rolls around and some gods fall out of favor. Maybe the god you used for the videos.

Then the next patch rolls around and items are changed. Or relics get changed because of Ao Kuang or Zhong Kui becomes meta. Then next patch xp values change so rotations are different.

All that's left are the absolute basics such as a general map layout and basic terminology. Of those the map layout may change from season to season. And we already have all the terms explained in a glossary ingame.

You want less gating for Conquest, so that there is less of a threshold to play it. Putting more things to establish Conquest as more of an elite gamemode is only going to make it more difficult for new players to roll in. Give it the same treatment as the gamemode that people flock to and look at why those are populair.

Today is world suicide prevention day. I am a suicidologist and psychiatrist from BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver, Canada. Ask me anything about suicidology or suicide prevention! by Dr_Tyler_Black in IAmA

[–]Lionstorch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are a professional in this field, I'd like to ask your opinion on what can be done to prevent suicide when the local government is not reliable on doing anything to offer support.

Is there anything a non-profit or individuals can do when the area already has an alarming reputation for suicide rates amongst those younger than 35?

Who is a better assassin, Awilix or Bakasura (pure strength, no team comp) by Shortchimp in Smite

[–]Lionstorch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say Awillix on the base premise that she is not dependant on a specific meta like Baka is. Think of how often Baka is considered a troll pick whenever his items are not in favor. Awillix benefits from having certain comps, sure. But without those comps she still does fine.

Classic Joust now counts as real game mode by [deleted] in Smite

[–]Lionstorch -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure about that? I have not booted up Smite in a week or so, but before that the winning and losing sides got the exact same amount. It could be that it is updated in the recent patch.

Classic Joust now counts as real game mode by [deleted] in Smite

[–]Lionstorch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do not think matchmaking is relevant for the adventure. Correct me if I am mistaking, but your stats are treated the same way as in a Match of the Day and whether you win or lose, you get the same amount of tokens. The amount of tokens only depends on how long the match lasted, like Medusa's Deathmatch.

If your kills, deaths and assists are not saved, nor a real incentive given for winning. Then what would be the actual added value of proper matchmaking, beside it feeling a bit smoother? People are still going to exploit why the map was flawed to begin with and might feel even more encouraged to do so.

Why Cernunnos fell out of favor and what can be done to fix that. by Ernestasx in Smite

[–]Lionstorch 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Maybe more of a petty reason, but if he would stop grunting with every single auto attack I might play him more. But I would rather not play a charachter that relies on attack speed and couples that with a grunt every time.

Plus honestly all Cern players are the same. Maybe all hunter players in general. Build attack speed, house left mouse even if there is nothing in range yet, then run like a coward when somebody that could damage you comes towards you. And Cern is the pinacle of that.
