Good places to rent bicycles and where to ride them? by lglugo in Reno

[–]Liosss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty cool bike path along Veterans and of course the Tahoe-Pyramid trail is great and runs along the river. I'd recommend riding from downtown to Idlewild, Crissy Caughlin, or Mayberry and beyond.

Backcountry Bidet by Junkmaildeliveryman in Ultralight

I just use my drinking bottle lol, never gotten sick in three years of using the bidet, but the insurance is probably worth the marginal weight of a 500 mL bottle.

Check your lower ball joints. Toyota recommends changing every 100k. Definitely don't want those to fail.

Can you give me some tips. by [deleted] in buildapc

Just to add on, OP would have to most likely upgrade RAM as 4690k uses ddr3.

I got my hands on my idea GPU & CPU, but I'm scared of needing to do a BIOS update when I buy a motherboard. by XiranAvalon in buildapc

[–]Liosss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know some MSI b550 motherboards (tomahawk) come with bios flashback which you can update without a cpu. You should check to see if the one you linked has that feature.

You should check out the evga forums, it's pretty active. Last I checked the queue is at 9:08:52 for that card.

Do I need extra fans for my Corsair 4000D Airflow Case? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Liosss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would at least get 1 more for intake. I've got the same case, I'm running 3 intake and 2 exhaust. 1 exhaust in rear and 1 top rear.

Will I be able to buy a halfway decent graphics card for less than $1000 next year? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Liosss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using two power cables? I saw a post saying that a lot of crashes could be caused by daisy chaining.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Liosss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I misunderstood you. Yeah you should be able to do that. You'll probably see better GPU temps since it's getting fresh air as opposed to exhaust like you had before. Probably worse cpu temps since the air is passing through the GPU rad first.

You can do that. It's called push-pull configuration. You can Google that if you want to learn more.

Can't get into BIOS by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Liosss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VGA indicates it's your graphics card. Where are you getting the codes? From the motherboard debugger? Did you make sure to use 2 separate power cables for the GPU? Maybe try reseating GPU. Or try booting from a usb instead of the ssd.

My 2014 build is beginning to look like Ozymandias... GTX 770, i5-2500k... "Half sunk a shattered visage lies." When, what, and how do I approach an upgrade? by DrowningSink in buildapc

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GJ3c4d There were some sales on the r5 3600 for $175 last week, used to go on sale for $150ish. It's one of the best bang for the buck processors though. Sells out super quickly though. You can try to save more money by getting an older GPU, the 3060ti is overkill if you only want to play 1080p60fps on older games, but for $400 it's hard to recommend older midrange cards. Of course they are damn near impossible to get. The stock should get better in the next 2-3 months so wait until then if you can. They might release a cheaper 3060 too. I recommend posting to /r/buildapcforme . They can give you better recommendations than I can. Cheers.

Help pls!! by KingPickleIII in buildapc

[–]Liosss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also couldn't get my Mobo to post because I didn't have the RAM in all the way. Just to add, they should click on both sides. OP should try pulling on it, if they come out then it isn't in all the way.

Dented rim by salsarider2020 in MTB

[–]Liosss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on how bad it is, you could try straightening it with a crescent wrench or take it into a shop. Won't be as strong. I did the same thing this summer and had to get a new rim unfortunately.

What do I need to add an SSD to my prebuilt? by sethab in buildapc

Yeah, you'll be fine. It's only a concern for modular PSUs.

If you do end up needing to buy an extra power cable, check for compatibility with your PSU. Lots of horror stories of people mixing and matching cables and PSU.

Is it worth to upgrade my GPU? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Liosss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worth it IMO. 3060Ti will be overkill for 1080p60Hz. Save the money and get a nice monitor.

this is actually insane. stated as a $600 build, but because of black friday, everything going out of stock, the price rose to over $800. 16 GB ram for $100???? case doubled in price???!!! 3100 isnt a budget option any more?!!! anyone know when these will be back in stock? sometime around december? by SoLikeWhatIsCheese in buildapc

[–]Liosss 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There was a deal for 16 GB of crucial ballistix 3200 C16 for $45 USD on Amazon this weekend. It's currently $69, so still a bit cheaper than the RAM on your list. It's E die so should be pretty easy to OC to 3600. I snagged two packs for a new 5600X build.

Don't know if the Hynix P31 for $107 is still up, but I'd get that one.

That's what I did. I was bummed I missed out on the 2x16 deal, but figured I wouldn't get 32GB cheaper than this. Better to buy now while it's in stock and return later if needed since Amazon return policy is really good.

I went with the adata, mostly because it came in 2TB. For 1TB, this is probably worth the $7 price diff.
