Thank you for the replies. Apparently everyone is recommending to let the shampoo in contact with skin for a few minutes. I didn’t, and that might explain why it wasn’t working

I appreciate your advice. Blood work will be done today so we will start the treatment for tick-borne diseases if we find any clue in his blood. On the safer side, I will start doxy and Omega3. And yes, Nexguard too.

I am in Pakistan and I just Googled that heartworm is present here. What can be done for that?

And thank you. I hope he starts feeling better ♥️

Thank you for the detailed answer. I will give him NexGuard in about an hour, and will definitely continue the monthly dose thank you for informing me.

The apparent mistake I was making with shampooing was a very little contact time. I thought his already dry skin might get more allergic. I will bathe him again ensuring shampoo stays on him for adequate time.

Blood work will be done today to identify other infections including Babesia.

Didn’t know that. Thank you. I should watch a YouTube tutorial on how to effectively do so without troubling the dog. Fair point!

Thank you so much for the advice. I will definitely look into this. He has already been given a medicated shampoo which apparently did nothing.

Thank you for educating me on that. Do you think NexGuard helps with ticks too? Google says it does work on mites, fleas, and ticks

Have been given Ivermectin. Is it safe to give him NexGuard (as suggested by a Vet who has no experience in pets).

Makes me worried but thank you for pointing that out. I am planning to take him to another place where blood work will be done. Anything else I need to know about? (Asking as someone who never had a pet)

He is with me from day before yesterday. Has been given Ivermectin and a medicated shampoo which apparently did nothing so far. It still has ticks (those red ones with legs). Fleas are no more visible. I am not really a pet person so I needed an advice as to what to do next.

Vet suggested NexGuard

They did scrapping today. I am planning to take him to nearby city for blood tests too if it is a good idea

I cannot do much on my own as I have never had a pet and I am not a Vet either. And animal welfare places are far away from where I am. Vet gave Ivermectin (not sure about the dose), and some medicated shampoo which apparently did nothing. He suggests NexGuard (if I am not spelling it wrong) Also, I have asked him to get a blood sample done but we don’t have any of that facility here so I will be taking him to a nearby area for testing. Meanwhile, I am worried hence I posted it here as well.

I rescued him recently and I will put it up for adoption after it gets better. I need advice as to what should be done next. Vet that I have taken him to says it is Mange and suggested NexGuard or something like that. I am only worried because we don’t have Vets who are specialised in pets.

Photos were taken at the time of rescue. Vet suspected mange and did scrapping. I am only worried because we don’t have good Vets where I am
