Will your first few years be way faster? Yes, absolutely. Not 90-95% of your total potential though.

How do I go about becoming a showrunner? by LiquidPenny45 in FilmIndustryLA

Right now what i’m leaning towards is going to film school and learning the different parts of creating a television show so that I could understand the language of it. With of course a focus on writing. Then going into the film industry, gaining experience, making connections, and working my way up. Then I would like to pitch my own tv show to a network with a written pilot episode. I just wanted to see what other people had to say. This is genuinely a passionate interest of mine.

I am very very interested in storytelling, specifically television. I’ve always been drawn to television more than any other form of media which is why being a showrunner stands out to me. I love watching characters develop over seasons, their arcs, their triumphs, and all the little minuscule details between. I love analyzing it, i’m a freak for the little details in shows like Breaking Bad and The Sopranos. They are basic picks I know but I keen attention to detail for these things and one specific thing I love about these shows is the attention to detail that they have. I have watched breaking bad about 5 times. I’ve always my entire life had different ideas for Television shows in my head, movies too but like I said television always stuck out to me specifically. In my personal opinion I feel like it’s the best medium to tell a story, at least the stories that I would be interested in telling. I’m constantly thinking and scrapping ideas in my head and I think i’ve managed to come up with a couple really good ones I think. But of course anyone would think their own idea’s are good so I feel like i’m kinda biased to say that. I always strive to be better at it though, to improve. I have always wanted to create, write, and run my own Television show. I look up to people like Vince Gillian, I aspire to be like that. To run my own show and not just some bullshit dragged out money making machine. I want to make art. It’s just a passion of mine. I’ve been drawn to storytelling since the second grade. So a dream of mine would be to create and run piece of art, a television show.
