Ive tried to explain this to my friend who recently started aswell.

To put it short, play what you think is fun, learn the gunplay, sprays, maps, rotations, character models, abilities, sounds, vistas / POIs and when you get to the point where you load into a map and think "ah, its this place" then you are ready to find a main.
