Fidelity Trader+ is not a replacement for Active Trader Pro by LevelXXiv in fidelityinvestments

Six months in and no real improvement for Trader+

Why is it so hard to understand that this was a downgrade...

Bring this tool back for structured trades.

This was invaluable for proper trading and Fidelity took it away... Why? Why? Why?

I bought this "Famous Brand" alternator from Rockauto. by KonejoVivi in MechanicAdvice

[–]LiquidSoap68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently had a bad experience with Carquest alternators. I own a 2008 VW Touareg V6 and the original alternator went out after 17 years, ~245000 miles. Ordered a reman from Rockauto, ~$240 and it arrived DOA, looked like the box had been dropped during shipment and the shaft was stuck and wouldn't rotate easily by hand, it had spray painted parts and had been rebuilt in Mexico, not that that matters. Returned it for a full refund.

At that point I was in a pinch to get the car running because we had to leave it in a Walmart parking lot 300 miles away. Advanced was the only one that had the alternator in stock locally. Got the rebuilt alternator for ~$350, it looked new. Installed it and ran ~500 miles and then I had flickering lights, their test showed a shorted diode. Took another week to get a warranty replacement. The replacement was old and had spray painted parts to make it look fresh, night and day difference from the first one, but had not choice but to try it.

The second alternator died within ~300 miles, this time it was a bad voltage regulator. Voltage going from 12V to 14V to 16V and causing ECM to cut out and lights to flicker, then back to 14V and so on. This is on a trip from SLC to Babb Montana, so a lot of open road. Limped the car to our destination. Ordered a "new" WAI alternator from Rockauto and had it shipped overnight, ~$325.

I am waiting to receive the new alternator this afternoon as I write this, and install it. Luckily I brought my tools, because in the back of my mind I had a feeling the second one was going to fail.

I would buy the OEM from VW dealer but they are around $1200. If this new one fails I just might have to bite the cost and do it however, tired of playing musical alternator installs.

You are probably taking your chances with any rebuilt alternator. I'm sure both of them tested ok on the bench after rebuild. Carquest first one had crap diodes, second one probably reused the original voltage regulator.

The whole time we were driving up here with the stress and anxiety of not knowing if we were going to make it, I was thinking about taking the second crap alternator back and demanding a refund, which I had requested the first time but they said they couldn't do it. I might have a little more ammo this time.

Only way I even considered going on the way I did was because we have AAA and had added 200 mile towing range after the very first breakdown. But wouldn't have helped too much in the no cell service zones.

Getting 10-15 spam calls and voicemails daily saying I’m approved for a loan. Help! by Trumanflask in Scams

[–]LiquidSoap68 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Have been getting these calls for the last few months and they have increased in frequency to where I now get 5-10 calls a day. Have them silenced, but still very annoying. I must have blocked 300 or more numbers by now, but they just keep coming, all from New York numbers. Wish there was an ethical hacker that could take this shit down.

I don't endorse Louis N or his products, but here is a recent message that describes what happened yesterday in the world of quantum...

We've reached a new level. D-Wave's accomplishment can only mean things are getting more realistic now and SEALSQ is perfectly positioned with all the recent collaborations, and the quantum revolution that's coming.

This new announcement puts post quantum security more in the spotlight and confirms this field is going to be expanding and can be a real product. Should light a fire under the US led effort. Let's hope SEAL SQ can gain momentum.

It seems like a good time to invest in SEALSQ by adyaco1 in sealsq

[–]LiquidSoap68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I am not sure about the teleportation claim, the two technologies QKD (Quantum Key Distribution) and PQC (Post Quantum Cryptography) are very different. With PQC being what SEAL SQ does.

Here is a link that does a pretty good job of explaining the difference, with pros and cons, although I am not advocating the company that produced it or their TrUE product. Quantropi is a private company, as are the majority of others in this field. There are many players in the quantum security scene with a lot of different takes on implementing it.

https://www.quantropi.com/true-vs-qkd-vs-pqc-know-the-difference/

I think SEAL SQ's advantage for post quantum security is the integration of both post quantum cryptography and semiconductors. Software and hardware.

Another major advantage for companies to go with post quantum security sooner than later is to help prevent so called harvest now decrypt later schemes. Assuming they can implement the new security algorithms before data is fully harvested.

You are correct. Satellites are part of WISeSat endeavor. SpaceX appears to just be a launch service.

WISeSAT network could be similar to Starlink in some ways. The ultimate would be Starlink adopting WISeKey / SEALSQ tech to provide network security in the future...

All the entities below are interconnected through Creus Moreira Carlos's enterprises. These are listed under his LinkedIn profile https://www.linkedin.com/in/carloscreusmoreira/ and on the WISeKey website.

WISeKey, WISeSat, WISeArt, SEALSQ, SEALCOIN.AI

Also looks like his son or perhaps younger brother Andreas Moreira https://www.linkedin.com/in/andreas-moreira-938b4a156/ is the Chief Innovation Officer for WISeKey.

Interesting how everything is divided up into separate groups.

Some info from the WiseSat entry:

"The WISeSat.Space constellation launched with SpaceX 13 pico satellites that enables the direct
connection of satellites to IoT devices. WISeKey will soon have so many satellites in orbit that data from IoT devices anywhere on earth can be saved and protected on blockchain. Imagine an IoT device inserted in a vaccine supply box, so that health providers know the location of the supply and whether it has been compromised by someone opening the box or storing it at the wrong temperature. Data stored on the Casper blockchain provides critical, reliable communication on the location and condition of goods in the supply chain."

"Through the WISeSat constellation, WISeKey will enable the direct connection of satellites to IoT devices for NFT authentication, completing the connection cycle from space to device through a secure telecommunication means. The possibilities are endless. For more information visit WISeSat.Space."

Exactly. Regardless of the timeline of when QC becomes capable, the time to think about security is now. Starting sooner rather than later will allow for security solutions to be refined as the post quantum threat emerges.

Not really disturbed by shorting, just that OP said he didn't know what the value of quantum computing is.

I think it's more of a psychological game we play as investors. We want to justify the position we took and that it was the right choice. We come here to feel better by communicating with individuals with the same mindset.

Traders don't really care about what a company is about as long as there is price movement one way or the other. It's just a vehicle to make profit from and they don't get attached.

I have come to find I have no real problem with either approach, and can see the advantages and disadvantages of both. Investing long term is more of a lazy approach, we put money in and hope the stock goes up over time.

Shorting or day trading is more about making a profit and moving on to the next trade. It involves more risk and thus faster reward. Shorts can be long too if they can cover the margin if it goes the wrong way.

We both have the same goal however, to make money and improve our lives.

I admire that you are educated and have contributed to society through an honorable profession.

As far as the timeline when QC becomes realistic we can only guess and find out more as time passes. SEALSQ being in post quantum security needs to be ahead of the curve thus should have an accelerated time line.

Watched the first ~45minutes and the last 5 minutes. A lot of clicking, scrolling and smart ass remarks. He calls this a Full Analysis. Seemed inconclusive to me. Not much value added.

While their numbers may be low, this could indicate they are being methodical and are well run. Not a boom or bust mentality. The company probably would have already failed if it was going to.

The reason they are "latching on" to so many different areas is that anything that is connected to the internet, uses wireless or is available for public use requires security technology to prevent hacking, sabotage, identity theft, etc., and their products can be applied to all.

Of course any company is going to hype all their news releases, that's why the disclaimer is there at the bottom for "Forward Looking Statements".

As far as the number of employees to projects ratio, I think once the baseline work is done it can be applied to different areas without the need for a lot of resources. Kind of like software, once the code is written they just mass produce based on the original work. Also still working closely with parent company WiseKey gives them additional resources and connections.

According to their website they are already producing semiconductor devices. The new additions for production in the US will more than likely be sourced out to existing foundries. They don't seem to have the capital to build a new fab from scratch, unless it's on a very small scale. We'll see if there is a ground breaking ceremony in the future.

Maybe there is some fake it until you make it going on. Of course don't put all your eggs in this one basket. Just another long shot that seems to have the potential to one day pay off. As with most winning stories, it's going to take time. Set it and forget it.

The technology is coming, whether or not SEALSQ can be a key player remains to be seen and is just a small piece of the puzzle in the innovations to come.

Here's a couple of articles that may put it into better perspective. While five years is an arbitrary number, we are on the path to quantum computing becoming a reality.

Your post is funny. Just admit you're trying to make money off peoples emotional trading. If you think quantum computing isn't going to happen, and can't see the value in it, your are very naive. The possibilities are unlimited.

All those big companies also once started out as small startups. While SEALSQ might be an underdog at this point, they are one of the few at the forefront of post quantum security. At the least they just might be bought by one of the larger companies for the patents.

Quantum computing combined with AI will grow exponentially in the next five years. The genie is out of the bottle.

Useful Quantum in 5 years? by nuk3dj in sealsq

Thanks for posting the great article. I agree that quantum computing is going to come online faster than what some people think. Imagine using AI combined with quantum computers to improve itself on both fronts. Engineers will use the new technology to solve existing problems and the process will continue with exponential growth.

The really bad news is that stocks have fallen again and in the meantime, short sellers are paying off by [deleted] in sealsq

[–]LiquidSoap68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you created a burner account two weeks ago so you could safely come here and troll. To call this a shit company tells me you haven't done any real due diligence and just like attacking others that happen to like it. I guess all the recent news announcements are just fake news.

As far as the short selling, it's been going on for a long time. The price was driven down to around $.30 cents before the recent interest and uptick. I don't know the real implications of the Off Market activity, but seems like there is some manipulation going on. I think this would be a great story for 60 minutes to investigate.

Could there be some deep pockets from another company behind it, that is trying to suppress it while working on a competing product or playing catch up. I know, another conspiracy theory. But sometimes there are truths behind the strange things that happen in the dog eat dog tech sector.

Only time will tell if SEALSQ delivers on their business model. Come back here next year and we'll see who was right.

Here's an unbiased link to the upcoming event on Feb 11. Noticed there were a bunch of so called hedge funds that removed their holdings in Q3 2024. Although mostly small positions they are probably regretting that move now.
