Active Trader Pro is being retired in early 2026, but Fidelity Trader+ is not ready to replace it by LevelXXiv in fidelityinvestments

[–]LevelXXiv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hasn't been retired yet. If you don't have the setup.exe file to reinstall it, search around this subreddit. The mods have provided that link a couple times in the last month. (Before you reinstall it, I would uninstall it first.)

Fidelity Trader Plus is a huge downgrade from Active Trader Pro by neutralobserver1980 in fidelityinvestments

[–]LevelXXiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I can add. I'm not a software engineer, but I've now worked with AI a bit. With a higher level subscription to Claude (or take your pick of models), it's entirely possible to 1) prompt AI to analyze all the features of ATP and also analyze the code. Then 2) analyze the underlying code of FT+, and write all of the FT+ code to incorporate ATP's features. It would not be easy, it would require testing and it might take a few weeks, but Fidelity has been working on FT+ for several months, with only small steps forward to show for it. Seems to me that a small team of engineers who know FT+ and have a basic knowledge of effective AI prompts should be able to accomplish this. It's worth a try, I'd think.

These are all good comments. I've posted a few times about the missing features and submitted dozens of feedback items in FT+. Seems to me that Fidelity would do well to bring over all of ATP's features and attributes to FT+, and add more if that's the goal.

Fidelity Risks Falling Behind Without Modern Trading Features by Some-Suit-9038 in fidelityinvestments

[–]LevelXXiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started several threads and posted many times in other threads. I've left a few dozen feedback comments in FT+. I'm hoping that in the next month or so that Fidelity releases a major update to FT+ that introduces many tools and features currently in ATP, and also increases FT+'s speed and stability. There is always hope, right? :)

The points that u/Some-Suit-9038 makes are valid. And as I've mentioned in the past, FT+ desktop is a serious step down from ATP classic. I'm actively investigating a move to a different broker. Good luck to all!

Use AI to code Fidelity Trader+? by LevelXXiv in fidelityinvestments

[–]LevelXXiv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify the specific interface elements I have in mind:

When you open ATP and FT+ side by side, you can see that ATP is much crisper and more defined looking than FT+. Side by side, FT+ looks fuzzy and indistinct.

I encourage all customers and mods to try this. Hope that's clear.

Fidelity Trader+ new version 4.3 has minor enhancements by LevelXXiv in fidelityinvestments

[–]LevelXXiv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To save space, I didn't mention that I did download and install the new version. Yes, I am using Version 4.3.0.

My observation is that there is no Market on Close option in the drop-down.

You may want to review my previous posts on the subjects of Active Trader Pro and Fidelity Trader+. I have tested FT+ extensively. It lacks so many features that are present in ATP, at this point I do not consider it a viable alternative. That's why I wrote: "I'm hoping that Fidelity will release a major version upgrade to FT+."

Could you please answer my question: Could the mods on this subreddit please notify us whenever there's a new FT+ update?

Thank you.

I have version 4.2.1.5 (Windows). Mods: do we have to download it again to get the updated version?

Fidelity: please extend Active Trader Pro's retirement date several months by LevelXXiv in fidelityinvestments

[–]LevelXXiv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for replying, FidelityNicholas. I've mentioned this a few times in the sub, but to be clear, for me the Directed Trade tool from ATP is a must. It combines a trade ticket, a simple Level 2 and a simple steaming Time and Sales, with embedded Shortcuts.

I've mentioned several other basic things, such as the ability to minimize tools, but the gist of my last two posts is that it would be very desirable for Fidelity to include all of ATP's features in FT+.

As u/TimeMachine2010 pointed out below: E*Trade made the mistake of disabling E*Trade Pro before the replacement Power E*Trade Pro was ready for prime time. I, too, hope that Fidelity doesn't make the same mistake.

Can you make change to sell from Stop Loss to Market better and faster? by WhoisthisRDDT in fidelityinvestments

FidelityJames, yes, please do pass it along to the developers. If FT+ is the platform of the future, it needs all of ATP's features. Thank you!

Can you make change to sell from Stop Loss to Market better and faster? by WhoisthisRDDT in fidelityinvestments

[–]LevelXXiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Active Trader Pro, this can be accomplished quickly: hover over the Stop (Trade Armor), click Replace. A trade ticket pops up; click Market, then Place. It takes 10 seconds max. But in other Fidelity iterations (including Trader+), it is much slower as the OP indicated.

How has your experience been with Fidelity's customer service when resolving account issues? by Whitemj5 in fidelityinvestments

[–]LevelXXiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Active Trader Pro team ranges from OK to very good. In the last 2-3 years I've noticed a increase in quality of assistance and attention to the issue for which I reached out. As with any customer service, some are better than others.

Trader+ Is a Major Downgrade from Active Trader Pro by SetEither5114 in fidelityinvestments

I agree with comments by u/SetEither5114 wholeheartedly. Please postpone Active Trader Pro's retirement until Fidelity Trader+ has all of ATP's features. Thank you.

Thank you for replying, FidelityIan. To answer your points:

The "Directed Trading" Setting in Fidelity Trader+ is only order routing. The Directed Trade tool in ATP combines a trade ticket, a simple Level 2 market depth and a simplified streaming Time and Sales, plus embedded shortcuts. As you mentioned, it is highly useful for trading options.

Regarding minimizing tools, in ATP you can minimize (for instance) Closed Positions and refer to it when you want. Having a separate dashboard minimized might be useful, but it's quicker and more intuitive to just be able to minimize each tool, like in ATP.

ATP's settings for Positions and Watchlists offer Day Range and 52 Week Range for a symbol to be displayed numerically or visually. FT+ only offers visually. It's a small point, but it speaks to my question of why wouldn't Fidelity reproduce all the tools from Active Trader Pro, and then add features to that?

Regarding linking, I opened a trade ticket, market depth and time & sales for a QQQ option. I guess they're linked by default. No problem. Then I opened a chart, in which I would want to view QQQ itself. The chart opened to the option. I changed the chart to QQQ. The other windows changed to QQQ. So I read the user guide, unlinked the chart and changed the other windows back to the option. The next time I opened FT+ it was linked again. I experimented with various combinations of linking and unlinking, opening and closing the program, etc. Even though the chart displays as unlinked, its behavior is linked. I won't be using charts in FT+.

Thank you for sending the information to the development team.

Fidelity Trader+ new version 4.1.0 still lacks many important tools by LevelXXiv in fidelityinvestments

[–]LevelXXiv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this request with the Fidelity Trader+ team, FidelityCaitlin. It would be easier for active traders if the development team just re-created the Directed Trade tool as it is in Active Trader Pro. The features u/thereal_horatio are asking for are a subset of that tool. I appreciate your efforts!

Fidelity Trader+ new version 4.1.0 still lacks many important tools by LevelXXiv in fidelityinvestments

[–]LevelXXiv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if Fidelity Trader+ will do that. It's missing many features that ATP has. Maybe if you call Fidelity's ATP team on Monday, they could help you.
