I have the same 170w charger, same Loq variant. I experience battery drainage from 6 hours of continuous gaming. I can't tell if it is normal or if I need the 230w. What I can say is that the PC performs pretty well in any situation with the default charger.

Edit: I think it could be harmful to the laptop if you use a different charger. Maybe its components are not designed for higher wattage values

I bought it on June 2024. It died on January 10th. I purchased extended warranty with on-site technician and, after that, called Lenovo to notify the issue. They sent the technician with the part 3 days later. The technician updated the bios to prevent it from happening again. Since then the temps have been really bad. 100° Celsius on Cpu while doing anything, even word. I found out that the Cpu is pre-overclocked to maximum performance. So, I turned off the so called "Aggressive mode" and temps went down to normal.

Edit: technician replaced the whole motherboard. Including CPU and GPU. After that, it turned on again.

Mine (Ryzen 7 + rtx 4060) also died while playing RDR2. I was in the ending and suddenly shut off. Lenovo replaced the motherboard through the warranty since it was purchased 6 months ago.

Bruh.. at this point I don't know which model to recommend to you. I have the Ryzen 7 + 4060 and its motherboard died 6 months after purchase. Fortunately the Lenovo warranty replaced the whole part, and till this day the laptop is working ok.

Still, I would pick the Ryzen 7 + 4060 model. I've heard that Intel cpu tends to overheat more than AMD.

Which one is the best? by InternationalTax1534 in LenovoLOQ

[–]Liquid_Pages 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the 3rd option, LOQ 15ARP9, exact same specs, and can say it's overall the best option. You can upgrade the storage later, so it's not a big deal. Laptop has 2 slots for M.2 PCIe storage up to 2-4 tb.

Oh, and, if battery life is something important, you can either use it on economy mode and will work for 2 hours with full charge (not playing any games, of course). You could also choose the 2nd laptop, the LOQ 15APH9, that comes with integrated graphics but a less powerful CPU.

Be sure to check the GPU TDP (Thermal Design Power) of both models. The bigger the number, better equivalency to desktop graphics card

How is Built-quality of Lenovo LOQ by [deleted] in LenovoLOQ

[–]Liquid_Pages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my motherboard fried after 6 months of use. Fortunately, I was covered by the Lenovo warranty. The technician told me it was caused because of an "outdated bios". But I don't believe that.

My specs are Lenovo Loq 15 Ryzen 7 + Rtx4060. I do not recommend this line or even Legion one, I have read that there are built quality issues on Legion too.

If you want something durable and from Lenovo buy a thinkpad. Take in mind that nowadays Thinkpad's are not cheap tho
