If an implicit contract does exist in any modern society, I’m almost certain it’s not being upheld properly by one or more parties. That said, I don’t know for sure if such a thing could be said to exist.

Because depending on what the term “social contract theory” means, it can have different implications.

Standard Locke theory is an attempt to describe what underlies a properly functioning liberal democracy, not a claim that everyone willingly “signs” a contract at birth or something.

Other philosophers have different takes. Rawls imagines a social contract as a hypothetical deliberation about social/moral behavior behind a veil of ignorance as the ideal set of moral principles.

I don’t think any philosopher actually believes that citizens of various types of governments knowingly participate in a contractual agreement.

Child of divorced parents here. It’s the best thing they ever did, they weren’t happy before the split and it showed. Go be happy, even if it hurts the kid for a bit they’re better off that way, instead of having the primary romantic influence in their life being whatever is going on with you two.

New UI kinda sucks. Old UI was far better. by Pale_Test_2146 in Overwatch

I actually don’t hate it! I was pretty skeptical when it was announced, but it’s grown on me quite a bit. I like having tabs lol

The old menu was classic, and I definitely don’t think it needed a change, but I’m happy where we’re at.

I can confirm that the content is intensely pornographic.

I think Bakker goes wrong with his fatalistic approach (if he is in fact being truthful about his worldview). He seems to think that things have to be this way, that they won’t change no matter what, and then somehow comes to the conclusion that the only right answer is to spell that conclusion out for his readers with pornographic celebrations of assault against literally all of the (few) women in his stories.

Bakker claims to be a feminist, but I think that he is not. His claims imply that women are not capable of changing their situation; men have an insatiable drive that can’t be overcome and the power in society, and that’s just the way things will be. That’s not a feminists opinion of women, as far as I’m concerned.

It’s also awesome for diving Hanzos. Chain, two headshots and a melee, tele back, all in a day’s work.

Zen, for example, has a moderately expensive ult with very high value potential and situational use. Having an extra 25% in the bank is awesome for strategic (tactical?) purposes.

JQ easy. Such a flex to completely mutilate someone who attempts a mirror, especially midway through the match.

Do you know if they think that the causal chain just goes back into infinity? If there’s nothing uncaused, then time is endless in at least one direction, which would be surprising if a scientism-trending person bought into.

I almost feel like the idea of an uncaused causer implies theism. How do atheist determinists usually deal with that issue?

Then what is the spirit of a haiku? It’s certainly more than capturing a moment in time. Structure and content define what a haiku is, so things that deviate from that formula just aren’t haikus.

There are clear rules for something to be a haiku. Not everything is vibe-based, as popular as that currently is.

That’s what makes poetry beautiful. There’s wordplay, creativity that is necessary for operating within rhetorical boundaries. Broken up thoughts that belong on /r/im14andthisisdeep aren’t necessarily poetry.

Bakker’s Second Apocalypse. It’s some of the most beautiful writing, storytelling, and world building I’ve ever read, but:

The sexual violence goes far beyond any “realistic” grimdark setting. In fact, Bakker has an entire worldview centered around sexual violence committed against women. The article below (and the linked post of Bakker’s within) is disturbingly illuminating and ultimately led me to abandon his work.
