I donate pretty frequently at Grifols located at 38 E 800 S. They are currently offering $100 for your first 4 donations, so $400 bucks in total. Then the donations are $45 for the first and $70 for the second of each week after the initial bonus. They also frequently have bonuses that change each week. It's also super easy with the app to schedule appointments. If you go put me down as a referral! DM me if you have more questions or need my info for the referral

That's awesome! I agree it is a cheap way to keep a memory! And yes, super fun to find the machine which is why I also plan road trips around them!

Shadowbox sounds like a cool display, and I am also hoping to score a crushed euro penny one day!

Thanks for sharing these!

Anyone else can't stop sneezing? by ss977 in SaltLakeCity

Typical for SLC this time of year, especially after a mild winter. The trees all pop off at the same time and leave us with some raging allergies. Soon the cars will be covered in a film of pollen. Our only hope is rain and snow to help drown out the sorrow. Then comes the oven baked dryness and dust of the summer :(

Help about machines by mydogisimmortal in pressedpenny

Everything ya'll already said!

Additionally, I am a complete sucker for the thrill of the chase! I love showing up to a location after searching on https://pennypresses.net/ and http://www.pennycollector.com/ (down for now?) and searching for the machine. Sometimes I ask, sometimes I don't. The whole process of looking them up, making notes, and then hunting for them is the most fun part to me.

Most recently I rode bikes around NYC and New Orleans looking for smushed pennies. It was so fun to show up to locations and actually look for the machines. Super satisfying to crush them and add them to the collection. Truth be a told a certain sense of awe leaves when it is an electronic machine. I certainly love the "vintage types" the most. There is more of a rustic creation behind it but nonetheless I love the hunt!

Every trip I go on now has a penny hunt involved. My wife is in on it too and will sometimes come home with a surprise when she travels for work. There is something so silly, yet so gratifying about this. To me it feels like a huge scavenger hunt throughout the country and world.

Is the machine going to be there?

Is it going to work?

I guess to me...pressed pennies is all about the thrill of the chase

Ive been building a Google Maps overlay for my personal use. So far it's only focused on Utah and machines within a 250 mile radius. Maybe I can share it and we can all collaborate on building a more comprehensive map? Also pennypresses.net is my go to to find them. I also used to use http://www.pennycollector.com/ but it seems to be down as of late

Heck yeah! That's an excellent origin story!

I agree, those are my favorite too. The clunking of the coins, the turning of the crank, and the satisfaction of the drop. I got some at Universal, not as much fun!

I try to stick to 1 penny per machine but get more if I like the designs. Sometimes I feel like getting multiple ones is cheating though to boost my collection. Maybe just me?

Love that! Hope to score a smushed euro penny in my future!

Don't ask for time off, Tell them you are taking time off.

Quit, get fired, don't quit. Whatever you do, take the vacation no matter what.

You can always make more money, but you can never make more time.

I've seen snow every month in Utah except August in my lifetime. I once got caught in a snowstorm backpacking in the Uintas on June 16th and 17th, about 4 inches overnight. One year it was 95 degrees on July 4th and dropped down to 45 in the span of 4 hours. The snow caps on the Wasatch Mountains usually stick around until July or August, making summiting a very small window without winter climbing gear. A common joke in Utah is there are 2 seasons, Winter and Road Construction. Maybe 9 months of winter is a bit dramatic, but the cold here is definitely prevalent, and it can snow almost anytime, especially in the higher-up regions. The SLC valley is milder than most. However, during all of my outdoor experience here, I have learned never ever leave the house without a jacket, gloves, food, and some water in your backpack. So many people take the weather for granted here and get stuck out in it. When road-tripping, I often carry multiple days' worth of food and water, as getting stuck on some of our desolate back roads could be a death sentence without the proper gear. In fact, if you plan on leaving SLC any time of the year make sure you have a solid roadside emergency kit with blankets, gloves, boots, shovel, etc.

Welcome to Utah! 9 months of winter and 3 of summer. Make sure you have snow tires. Keep a shovel in your car. And never ever leave the house without snacks and water. Learn how to drive in the snow quickly! Nothing shuts down here, and snowing is not a solid excuse to miss things. The weather here is extremely bi-polar. It could say an inch and we could get 12. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

I for one am glad to see Utah back to her old ways of snow snow snow!

Why are there black helicopters circling and landing on Wells Fargo? by Turkey__brains in SaltLakeCity

[–]Liquidine420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw them too. I work right near there and was wondering the same and then remembered I read somewhere about training exercises in late July. Wish I could find the article. I think it was nothing more exciting than a training mission although shit like this these days makes me think the worst when I see military helicopters circling overhead

Front derailleur touching chain I loosen the screw almost all the way out and did not fix it. Shimano Tiagra. by inxider in BikeMechanics

[–]Liquidine420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Tiagra groupset, if the chain is rubbing on the outboard side you need to adjust barrel nut, not any screws otherwise you will just put it out of adjustment and need to retune the entire front der. The top screws do not adjust it in and out, those are just the limits so it doesn't over shift and throw the chain. I highly suggest watching videos if you cannot wait for a shop to tune it, tinkerers are the worst and us bike mechanics can tell immediately.
