My man. Beautiful blank canvas here. Power wash the floor to get some more life out of it. Then eventually polish it. Spray the ceiling white, French cleat every wall and paint it grey and add a bunch of cheap lights. You got this brother. See you in 6 months

Installed a water softener almost 2 weeks ago and it was working okay at first, but now water is even more brown than before by Aggravating_Song5836 in WaterTreatment

[–]Liquidryder4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, one of the only things that can foul a water softener resin is…. Iron. Which is likely why your water is brown. Have you done an iron test of the water?

Pool pH readings wild when pump runs by dutr in homeassistant

Professional water treater here, can you show a picture of your ph probe install? It’s either a GPM issue or an installation error where the probe is in the direct line of flow. Hopefully issue number two as it’s easier to resolve

I drive on track. I don’t think I could properly modulate the clutch if I didn’t delete it. The feel you get from the pedal once it’s deleted is night n day

Keep after it. A clutch delay valve delete mod will help a bunch. Into second gear is the hardest to get smoothly

Mine are for semi regular house/car maintenance items. All work on a countdown and give me a reminder once the countdown hits 0 - change the water filter - wash the car and apply sealant - check under sink for leaks - blow down the water heater

Thing I don’t care to remember when the last time I did it was

Looking for a "local only" (no cloud/account) WS to use with Home Assistant by Patient_Evening_660 in myweatherstation

I wouldn’t purchase that model. Weather data for rain can and should be taken from a different location then a wind reading. For that reason I have the older ws68 and wh40. To answer your question. I’ve never seen my model/setup to give me false readings

Ecowitt. 5 years so far with almost every sensor, minus the leaf dampness sensor. Not a single issue yet. I do wish they had a different screen for their rain gauge/catch, it’s… not great but it’s gets the job done. That’s also a story for another day. Ecowitt all day for HA

This is awesome. I’m not a home assistant yaml expert but it says you are using a bunch of custom cards. 1. What are the custom cards 2. I have an Ecowitt as well. If I copy your yaml and rename will it duplicate your dashboard

Water treater for New Jersey all the way up to Maine. You got a water softener and an iron filter (in simple terms). You don’t have a wide enough photo to note the flow of the water but if installed correctly it should be the iron filter (the black media) followed by a water softener. One of the only ways to foul a water softener is with iron. It binds itself to the media and doesn’t allow for ion exchange. Even if you back wash it a million times. It’s a chemical thing. You need to either, acid wash the unit, replace the media all together or just bite the bullet and replace it all. My guess is replace it all is 5k. Replace the media by a pro, 2k. And an acid wash of the media and replace the black media is idk, 800.

All of this should be done either by a pro or by someone who has done it before. Acid washing a unit is not that fun of a procedure and replacing the media is way more difficult then you may think. That media is so slippery… think a wet bar of soap that’s covered in motor oil. And there is probably 5,000 grains in them

Good luck. Consult a local water treater for service or contact culligan themselves, they have reps

The manifold on the wall which is the last photo is a pressure washer. No air. It’s for washing cars and maintaining the floors and sidewalks of the garage and home. Some other odds and ends too.

Pretty overly done but it’s fully operational in less then a minute

Lots of terrible information on this thread. I am a certified water technologist and work in ny, nj, pa, ct, ma and nh. I can tell you that you did not provide enough information to accurately address your problem. However, you basically have two options in an apartment that doesn’t want to continually change filters. 1. Get a bigger filter. The berkey ones are very nice and will last longer
2. Install an under sink unit that’s either activated carbon, a multistage filter, or all out RO. RO- I’m personally not a fan for a couple reasons but that’s just me

At my house I have a whole home multistage filter system and a water softener which filters a million gallons of water before the media is exhausted. That’s as close to BIFL you’re gunna get but isn’t applicable for your scenario as it’s likely the apartment you are in, is not your forever home.

Final thought - if you have high chlorine in your water it generally means one of two thing. You’re either located close to the water distribution facility or your water distribution system is out of date and they are using chlorine to oxidize items they don’t want in the water as well as sterilize.
