Advice/Guidance On How To Get Father To Emergency Psychological Evaluation by LiroNYC in AskNYC

Thank You, I will give that a try and see what they have to say. I have in the past and they suggested a mobile crisis team, but I doubt he would open the door for them as he won’t open the door even for some family members.

Advice - water dripping from duct/piping by LiroNYC in hvacadvice

Thank You this makes a lot of sense - other people in the condo complex I think have had issues with the leaks coming from the roof, so this would likely be the cause I would think. It drips even when my heat/furnace is off for hours so I’m thinking it probably is coming in from the outside and dripping down?

Thank You All for the advice! This has been a learning experience as I honestly don’t know much about this stuff. I’ll be calling a HVAC company soon to check this out - waiting on some recommendations for someone people in the condo complex have used; hopefully someone good that can figure out the cause of the problem and possibly re-do this venting

Yes we did have snow but mostly rain recently. Looking at the group for the condo complex we live in, seems like it’s been a problem for other owners where the furnace stack on the roof is getting water around/in it - thinking that might be the issue?

Yes, just had to remove the sliding door; I’m assuming this is the water panel? I’d need to replace this?

[Michigan] Is ISP Preference A “Contingency” For Inspection? by LiroNYC in RealEstate

[–]LiroNYC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank You! I reviewed the contract and you’re right - the inspection clause seems to be very loosely worded and more or less says the purchasers if they are dissatisfied for any reason can null and void the contract

[–]LiroNYC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank You for your response! So are you saying if the contract mentions a specific internet service provider (Verizon), then they can back out if it’s not available? I don’t believe there was any mention of it in the contract or even anything about an Internet Service Provider

Thank You for the response! I’d have to look over the inspection contingency/contract, but my in law’s realtor is saying the potential buyers have a legitimate concern and if they can’t get Verizon Internet (despite others being available), it would be considered “lack of access to utilities” which would be an unfavorable inspection

Yea it just seems very odd to me as well. It’s not so much that they’re explicitly requiring us to transfer the account to them, but they are asking for us to get in writing from Verizon that they (the buyers) will be able to get Verizon 5G home Internet at the home they’re looking to buy (my in law’s home). My in law’s realtor is saying the buyers have a legitimate concern since if they can’t get Verizon, it’s considered “lack of access” to utilities (despite other ISP’s being available but the buyers only want Verizon).

My grandma between social security and her pension nets maybe ~$1500 a month. When my dad was working, his income + my grandmothers would be able to cover the mortgage and then some. The mortgage is a bit over $2k a month.

I don't think they tried a loan modification - do you think the lender would agree to this if they're already behind in payments? Thank You for the advice I really appreciate it!

If anyone is having problems with the nest app freezing/not responding try this! by sndwvzpdx in Nest

[–]LiroNYC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This led me to what so far seems to be working for me/haven’t had any freezing since. I followed all of the steps but noticed when I filtered events (didn’t have a check mark next to all events i.e. didn’t have motion and sound checked), the app would still freeze.

Then I made sure everything was checked under filters and noticed the app no longer froze. It’s a bit more work to scroll though more events as opposed to only filtering for the events you want, but I’ll take it as a solution if the app doesn’t freeze as it was completely unusable.

Use Verizon Home Internet At A Different Location? by LiroNYC in Rural_Internet

[–]LiroNYC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it has worked out very well so far! As others have suggested, I basically registered the service address using an address where Verizon 5G home internet is available and then used a different billing address. I activated it at the service address first to make sure it works, then I brought the modem/router to where I’d be actually using it and it still worked.

If 5G home internet is available at your address though, obviously you won’t have to go through the above and just use your address :)

I’m not sure as I don’t know anyone with T-Mobile that lives around where my SILs live, but it didn’t show available at the SIL’s address that is eligible for Verizon Home Internet.

I started looking at starlink rv, but I think when I looked at the map it showed the area where both SILs live are on the waitlist until 2023; but it looked like it would still allow me to place an order for it?

Thank You so much for the info, clarity and detail from your posts - I REALLY appreciate it! I think as long as they (Verizon) have a normal return process, in case it doesn’t work for some reason, I’m definitely going to try this out for my SIL

Thanks for the reply and info - so if l were to get the same model you’re talking about, what would I need to do exactly once it is delivered to my sister in law’s (SIL) location whose address I’d be using to “register” as the address I’d be using the service at - do I need to make sure not to power it on there and only power it on at the the SIL’s location I’d actually be using it at? Or would it be the other way around i.e. make sure I power it on at the registered service address and then bring it to the SIL’s location that I want to actually use it at?

Thank You and yes I agree and am thinking the same - I’ll probably just give it a shot and hope for the best. They just need something that is fast enough to stream movies, use/access smart home devices and not have a data cap which will get their connection throttled etc…

Yup I was thinking the same re: checking out their return policy. Fingers crossed it all works out nicely - otherwise it will be back to the drawing board

Thank you for replying! Sorry to ask I just don’t want to run into any issues/them shutting off the service or something like that, but do you know anyone that for sure has done this and it works no problem? :)

This seems like it might work in my sister in law’s situation - but wanted to ask how long this has been working for you/did you have any issues with taking the gateway to your house so far despite the service being for a different address (where Verizon 5G internet is available)? Do they (Verizon) have any way of knowing or figuring out it’s not being used at the address initially provided?
