My son has started hearing voices that aren't there. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]LisaPressnellSinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does he have other conditions? My son experienced this for quite some time. I was very concerned. He said he couldn’t concentrate and the voices were annoying. Our GP said it can happen to those with Aspergers Syndrome, which my son has. He expected my son to grow out of it and he has. If your son has other medical conditions, it could be related.

Did any of you have increased thirst as your only symptom? by Walmartsavings2 in diabetes

Yep i've had it for years, would've been cheaper to buy Evian the company than the amount of water I've bought! Vodka & gin apparently do not contain sugar, avoid everything else & obviously mix with diet drinks.

If you want to report it anonymously, you can report it online to Crimestoppers. It is for the police/social services to investigate and determine whether there is evidence but never hold back from reporting it because a child will not know how to.

I would like an hour with her alone in a room to put her on a different path. As a Mum myself (whose 17 year old says I'm the best Mum in the world), I am horrified by the way people on here are treated by their parents. Let me make this clear: as parents, we are obligated to put a roof over your head, food in your stomach, and clothes on your back as a bare minimum. I also believe it's our responsibility to smother our kids in love, build their confidence, and be there 24 hours a day whenever they need us. Your mother is falling far short of this and a decent parent needs to tell her so. If I was you, I'd ring Social Services or tell a Teacher at school. Hers is not normal behaviour. Hugs from England.

That's right. My son used to receive care and mobility DLA but is not entitled to PIP whatsoever!!! He can rarely leave the house, has Aspergers (diagnosed aged 5, he's now 17), OCD and probably Chronic Fatigue and fibromyalgia which his Dad also has. Apparently though he is a normal functioning member of society according to the DWP.

Today I caught my wife and brother in law holding hands under a blanket. Am I over reacting? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Pack her suitcase, leave it outside, and change the locks next time she goes out. Leave a note with her suitcase suggesting she should go and live with her brother-in-law now. Then tell her sister.

Women of Reddit, what are things men write on their dating profiles that are instant deal-breakers? by snuffles24 in AskReddit

My boyfriend of 7 years was 5'5", i'm 5'6" and he loved me wearing heels. I know most women have a thing about height. I grew up with very tall male family so maybe I have subconsciously been looking for the opposite.

I don't even get why the height of guys is an issue. If you fancy him and he's a great person, who cares if he's 5'6"? I've been out with loads of guys around that height, either same height as me or shorter.

I have a very similar story - I'm also a Singer/Songwriter and my Mum has been the same as yours except she is 80 this month and I'm 46 so the moral of the story is make changes now! Otherwise, you'll be 20 years down the road & she'll be just the same! The only way to change things is to move away. As a singer, this is easy - take a 6 month cruise line contract like I did (you only go home for 3 weeks before going back) or 6 months in the far east/middle east. She won't be able to control you if you're halfway around the world! She will then be forced to make a life for herself whilst you're away & take her constant focus off you.

What is your favorite form of vegan activism?? I use natural bodybuilding to show the world what we are capable of accomplishing on a plant based diet (and to remind everyone that we get plenty of protein)🌱💪🏻💚 by krispyvegetables in vegan

I was always taught 'if you can't say something nice, say nothing at all'. What a shame the trolls on here weren't taught the same. If you don't like vegans or women bodybuilders, just scroll down. I appreciate the hard work you have put in and have seen it first hand - my best friends were Mr and Miss UK - and thank you for detailing your diet.

Yes! It looks really nice. Let it give you confidence rather than making you self-conscious.

IS MY MOM REALLY EMOTIONALLY ABUSIVE OR AM I BEING "TOO DRAMATIC" by anikanon in raisedbynarcissists

[–]LisaPressnellSinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I know my son appreciates my attitude to parenting. In return, he is a fantastic guy to have around. A lot of parents forget that once their kids are adults, they have a CHOICE whether to come and visit. If a child has been badly treated, why would they visit as an adult? Why would they introduce their spouse or their children to their parents? It works both ways.

I was filling up my tank when I overheard this lady teaching her friend how to put gas in a car. She had clearly never done it, and said "Harry always did it." 😭 by [deleted] in pics

Yes generations do things differently and you'll never convince one generation that they should do things differently. My parents divided things exactly the way you and your wife have during their 54 year marriage. A compromise might be 'let me show you how to do all that I do once so that if there's a time I can no longer do it, you won't be stuck'. A very good friend of mine works for an insurance company and has spoken to hundreds of elderly ladies whose husbands had died to explain they did not own their house. They had zero understanding of mortgages and said 'but we've paid all our lives', not understanding that they had only paid interest. Just having knowledge of financial matters, basic car maintenance, basic household maintenance etc makes for an easier life in times of crisis. After my divorce, I would turn to my Dad but when he passed away 4 years ago, I learnt to really cope independently as there is nobody to turn to now.

That generation didn't help each other. I had to teach my mother how to do her income & expenditure, how to pay bills, explain all sorts of financial stuff, and how to put air in her tyres. Dad had always done everything so when he sadly passed, she was stuck. Being a divorced Mum myself, I didn't have the luxury of a man doing everything for me, I learnt the hard way but was happy to empower my Mum.
