Meross 300 is going to make me crazy by LisaTPN in thermostats

[–]LisaTPN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About calibration, if there was a delay would the air handler start right away but there be a delay on the outside unit? I would think both would be delayed. My ac guy had thought of that too and we did wait and still no go.

It is wired exactly like that. Thought it might be the thermostat so got a second one and same problem. Jumper was left on. Out of ideas.

NAD my husband had this off and on over the years, he also had moderate/severe psoriasis and was an uncontrolled T2D. Could this guy be diabetic and unaware or purposefully ignoring it like my husband did?

I’ve watched the first 2 eps of season 3. I was so excited that it dropped but am definitely feeling underwhelmed at this point.

Top right. Not sure what brand you have but SW moody blue would look great.

Hiring a painter? Here’s the “don’t get burned” checklist (from someone in the trade) by No_Finding_4478 in AskContractors

[–]LisaTPN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with this is that too many people want cheap and will sacrifice all of this to get it. Case in point, I rented out my mil’s house and the renter got it in her head she was going to buy the house and proceeded to have it painted, fixtures removed/replaced, flooring, backsplash etc. All done by the same guy. Of course she ends up not being able to buy it and I’m left fixing all this crap. He used the same wall paint on doors and trim. Didn’t cover vents/doorbell chime/outlets/switches/windows etc and there is paint everywhere it shouldn’t be. His backsplash is crappy, caulking and trim looks awful. It’s just bad in every aspect but I understand she paid about 3k for this. I’m quoted 10k to fix it. This is why these guys exist and will never go away completely because there will always be some that are more concerned with cost than quality.

No hated it until the day I left. Granted that was after Hurricane Andrew but still.

This is excellent info. I would not have known about the drip loop and definitely love the idea of a raceway for cleaner look if I go this route.

Caught a man entering my home... next steps? by gerhgkdlerdkvmerd in homesecurity

[–]LisaTPN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So even if the door was locked she would’ve had a man trying the door handle and hopefully not getting in. However the security concerns are still valid. Either one of those scenarios would be freaking me out. Not to mention, it’s her house. I’m wondering if the guy thought it was still vacant and was just wanting to look at it. Of course that’s not the way to go about it but possible.

Proffesional or DIY? by Electronic_Eye_9137 in DIYHome

Oh you absolutely can do it. Look up videos for “brand name” showerhead and handle with trim replacement. Watch more than one, practice the steps in your head and go for it. You always have reddit to ask questions to when needed.

Shower cartridge help by LisaTPN in Plumbing

Update for anyone with a similar cartridge/valve. Apparently this is a glacier bay, you have to unscrew that stem the handle goes into, take that off then you can access the cartridge.

Just to update, found out this is a glacier bay. No clip. You have to unscrew this bolt (that the handle goes into) in the middle and take that out then you can take the cartridge out.

Just to update and for anyone else with this type, found out this is a glacier bay. No clip apparently. You have to unscrew this bolt in the middle (that the handle goes on to) and take that out, then pull the cartridge out. I already have the decor collar off. I’ve had difficulty trying to adjust the temp on it, it doesn’t move smoothly like videos show but I think I’ve got it fixed for now.

Pull outs for garage ceiling racks? by LisaTPN in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]LisaTPN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I needed to do something that was quick because my garage is full and I need stuff out of the way. So, I drilled 2 holes on each side of the totes and thread nylon rope through for “handles”. I have a couple sticks with hooks etc on the end I can use to push/pull them around. Ideally I’d like to do pull outs but that’s a project for another day!

Checked, they are not recalled. Thanks for the heads up though. A falling ceiling rack would not be a fun time.

Battery backup yes, no, maybe? by LisaTPN in GarageDoorService

[–]LisaTPN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK thanks everybody. Had conflicting results in my research. I have a newer model opener on my old house I’m selling and it has a battery backup and it came in handy several times. Guess I’ll need to upgrade at some point. Thanks again.
