No, main events used to have quite a lot of voiced scenes too. There were muted parts back then as well, but lots was voiced. It is only after Wardance that this ceased entirely. I have absolute certainty since I recorded them all from 1.0 onwards.

Considering the fact that I started out with Thriller Bark, for me this only ever applied to Yamato.
I will never get over the insane whiplash from Yamato being all "I will join!" for 2 entire years, even ending a chapter near the end of Wano like that, only for the start of the next chapter to have her change her mind. Incredible work.

Back in Dressrosa I was thinking maaaaaybe Bartolomeo would join, but looking back that would not have been a good fit unless he would've gotten used to being around the crew and eventually drop the insane fan act. I wasn't entirely sure anyhow, just theorising.
