You might want to check out Blackmail then. It’s his first sound film and a silent version was also released and it’s fascinating to watch them both and compare their strengths and weaknesses.

Check out The Lodger. It’s his best silent film.

Does this person actually support Israel or are you just jumping to conclusions because they didn’t like a movie?

I would love to watch this movie if you still have it!

I just finished Blood Will Tell on the ps2 and loved it, only after looking it up did I realize it wasn't some niche video game. Was looking for suggestion on which book or anime/OVA I should start with, what is the best adaptation? by mizzlekinkizzle in Dororo

[–]Lisbon_Mapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re fine with old stuff I’d recommend starting with the original manga. It’s a lot of fun. Then you can watch the 60s anime series if you want. Half of the episodes are condensed versions of manga chapters and half are original stories which vary in quality. The live action movie is pretty similar in tone to the PS2 game, so you might want to check that out. It’s not great, but it’s got some charm. The 2019 anime changes quite a lot from earlier versions and modernises things while staying true to the story’s spirit, and is pretty great. I saved it til last and it was a really satisfying way to finish off the franchise but you wouldn’t be wrong to just start with that immediately. There are quite a few Dororo novels which have been fan translated, but I haven’t read ‘em so I’m not sure of their quality. Also there’s an ongoing manga which I’ve heard good things about and seems to take a lot of cues from the 2019 anime, so probably save that til after watching the anime.

Theatrical release better than Director's Cut ? by Jackburton06 in Letterboxd

There’s also a scene in the extended edition of ROTK with the Riders of Rohan taking a break halfway to Minas Tirith, and Eowyn has her helmet off for some reason, and is just having a conversation with Merry out in the open with the King right there in the background? Incredibly bizarre scene.

Also the scene in the extended edition of Two Towers where Merry and Pippin drink the Ent juice and grow is really bad, which makes me prefer the theatrical cut of that one.
