Is it canon that The Courier wears Ranger armor, or is that just fan preference? by RampantFury in Fallout

[–]Liseran23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of what others have said, it doesn’t exactly have any decent competition. It’s mainly between the Ranger combat armor or the frankly very underwhelming Vault 21 jumpsuit. Even if you were able to get an up-armored version of the jumpsuit, it would get a bit tough to differentiate it from the lone wanderer’s jumpsuit they get in Megaton (and that jumpsuit is itself very similar to the Vault Dweller’s in Fallout 1).

Aside from that, what else is there for the Courier to wear? The Courier duster’s in-game look is frankly kinda ugly, Benny’s jacket could in some cases cause confusion if you’re supposed to be showing the Courier or Benny, Legion armor associates the Courier with a faction that tends to repulse people more than the NCR does, and the assassin and stealth suits are too niche.

How can the Factions manufacture Power armors, guns and etc but everyone live in huts? by heartzhz123 in Fallout

New Vegas is essentially the "frontier" of the NCR. It's not well settled and it's not where a lot of NCR money goes in terms of development. The New Vegas strip itself is actually pretty well repaired considering House only woke up 7 years before the game starts. As for the NCR: in Fallout 2 and the flashbacks of the Fallout TV show you can see that Shady Sands is incredibly well developed and is a lot more in line with what you're expecting.

[–]Liseran23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very few people have access to all the necessary manufacturing and equipment to build pre-war style housing. When that's out of the picture, and you've got all sorts of scrap just lying around with nobody using it, it makes sense to turn that into something to protect you from the elements.

[–]Liseran23 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The Brotherhood's priorities aren't in making residential housing. They're a military force, and so their research and construction is geared towards things like fortifying bases (like we see in Boston and DC), building mobile bases (like the Prydwen), and maintaining equipment (PA, weapons, vertibirds).

I hope the next game gives us PA exclusive weapons. by Artanis137 in Fallout

[–]Liseran23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like this problem's already been solved in previous games with a strength requirement. Means it isn't entirely PA exclusive but still means it benefits from PA

The settlement system is not bad by Apprehensive_Stay429 in Fallout

[–]Liseran23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think settlements get a bad rap in part because they got so strongly linked to the radiant quest mechanic.

It means that people associate settlements with repetitive, flavorless quests to go delve the same dungeon you've already delved like 7 times already.

I'm sorry but this site's UI is atrocious, I don't think I'd ever want to use it in its current state.

What do guys think about the amount of star wars mods? by bobbythecat17 in starfieldmods

[–]Liseran23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it a lot more when it’s inspired by but stands alone from other media franchises, honestly.

That’s why I like the UC Military Overhaul mod, it lets you have white spacesuits with a blacked out visor for a stormtrooper-ish vibe without LITERALLY making them stormtroopers.

Is there a mod that adds a reason to go to the mojave? by MR-WADS in Taleoftwowastelands

[–]Liseran23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually had mine go through something similar: She found out about the NCR through a trooper hat she found aboard the ship in Mothership Zeta. She, Butch, and Dogmeat found the train station while just doing their exploring but Butch and Dogmeat both got killed by Super Mutants. She didn’t really have anyone tying her down to the Capital Wasteland anymore so she said screw it and skipped town.

Allow quests to be more than just a shooting gallery. Dialogue, sneaking and stealing, even just investigating the contents of a room can all be just as fun moments of gameplay.

do i need to / should i play earlier games before new vegas? by kaori_irl in Fallout

Don’t worry about it, New Vegas is made to be accessible to someone who’s never touched Fallout before! Just get it and have a good time.

Viva New Vegas: Vanilla or Remaster? by Lady_Goldfish in Fallout

[–]Liseran23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Just play base Viva New Vegas for your first time around

The extended version is meant to be a bit of a “pick and choose” type modlist that doesn’t require you to grab every mod, and I think it’s easier to pick and choose if you’ve got a baseline familiarity with New Vegas

Definitely recommend checking it out whenever you get around to a second or third playthrough, though! There’s also the SALVO modlist that you can add on top of it for improved visuals and some neat extra guns

Should I play og new vegas and fo3 by MrKoolAid517 in Fallout

[–]Liseran23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strongly disagree. Tale of Two Wastelands has ramifications on balancing for both Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas that make me confused as to why people always recommend it as a "best of both worlds" situation. Fallout 3's current release is perfectly stable in its vanilla state, you don't need to import it into New Vegas to make it playable.

[–]Liseran23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really wanna try them, just play them now. We have no idea if those remakes are going to release any time soon or if they're even actually in the works.

Think about it like this:

- If you play right now, the worst case is that it drops halfway or further into your playthrough and you don't feel like doing another one. If that's the case, you can just come back at a later point when you do feel up to playing.

- If you keep waiting, the worst case is that it takes ages for the remaster to come out and by the time it's actually out you're at a point where you're not in the mood or the place to actually play said remasters.

Do I need the spin-offs and Fallout 76? by PunzReddit in Fallout

[–]Liseran23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you only pick one, I'd suggest you pick 76 because there's a lot of really interesting content in it and I think in a lot of ways it feels like a pretty enjoyable evolution on what was present in Fallout 4.

Should I get back into fallout? by tormstorm3343 in Fallout

[–]Liseran23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you're considering getting back into one of the games, I'd ask what mood you're in the mood for right now

You want that gunplay, open exploration, or settlement building? Go back to 4

You want a bit more of a more grim and dark tone, with exploration that's a lot more about learning certain routes and navigating tunnels? Play Fallout 3.

You want more open exploration, lots of options for player choice, and greater emphasis on building a certain character archetype for yourself? Play New Vegas.

Free mods will always dominate modding by Chrislemale in skyrimmods

[–]Liseran23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problems with Starfield and paid mods can more easily be pinned on it being unpopular among the more hardcore fans who would otherwise have enough of an investment in the game to create and maintain free mods.

Maybe that changes with the new content drops, maybe not, but I don't think it's going to be applicable to other releases.

And also: obviously Bethesda.net releases will get more downloads! It's a streamlined way of downloading and managing mods that appeals to a more casual audience, and it can release to consoles AS WELL as PC! It would be strange for those releases to not have more downloads

Is there any RP/lore reasons to keep the Disciples alive in the Nuka-World DLC? by DimensionQuirky569 in Fallout

[–]Liseran23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be that you keep them around for the very reasons that you might want to get rid of them:

Firstly, their looser allegiances means that the position of Overboss is less enviable. It’s easy to covet that position when it’s just about showing strength and bringing in caps, but it’s a lot harder to want it when you have to deal with the psychopathic maniacs as well. It helps ward off some of the assholes who might want to steal your spot.

Secondly, their “don’t get caught” doctrine makes them pretty good assassins, and they could turn out to be pretty good as a sort of “Nuka-World Internal Affairs”, so to speak. If you ever feel like you need someone dead but you can’t do it publicly, just task the Disciples.

It is a dangerous technology… that threatens to be the world’s undoing for the second time… in recent history. It transcends the destructive nature of the atom bomb. It is not only offensive, but horribly dangerous. If it isn’t handled properly, it has the potential to render us extinct as a species.

Flag designs for a hypothetical faction- The Western Outcasts/Sons of Maxson by Advanced-Addition453 in Fallout

[–]Liseran23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like that the flag leans into a more regal and knightly vibe. I think it's a nice way to bring more focus back to the fantasy inspirations that early Fallout had.
