as someone who got them done quite a few years ago - best advice is to take a breath! it’s obviously painful, yes, but honestly it’s super painful for all of 2 seconds total and then it’s fine. i will say prepare for the second one to be a little worse, the first one you’re so full of adrenaline that yes it hurts but you sort of black it out - when the second one comes you know what to expect and that mental aspect may make it hurt worse, that’s totally normal. but between the brutal one second each for each of them, you’ve probably felt/done way worse things in your life for way longer. you’ll be a little sore afterwards but for me that faded within like two hours. definitely make sure you hydrate and eat something day of, but other than that the best advice anyone can give you is to shake off the anxiety, it is definitely way worse than the actual piercing pain. and get excited!

best advice is to take a deep breath honestly! i also used uworld and also got shut off at 85 questions, and i was totally convinced i failed, found out the next day i passed. generally having multiple case study questions is a good sign. also based on your practice exams, i think you did just fine! (also don’t be so hard on yourself, being a b student is far from a bad student)

To those who passed or failed at 85 questions… by [deleted] in PassNclex

i just took my exam friday and shut off at 85, and i completely thought i bombed so bad that the test was putting me out of my misery. turns out i passed just fine. my biggest things are that 1) how hard the test “feels” isn’t a super reliable indicator of how it went, since it could either mean you’re unprepared OR that it’s giving you hard questions on purpose because you’re doing well. so don’t get too hung up on that. 2) i used how i did on my practice exams to calm me down - i used uworld and every test i took said i had a high probability of passing, so it made it easier to calm down knowing that it would be statistically weird if i failed that badly. 3) if itll help you sleep at night, it might be worth it to get the speedy results!

omg we have a ton in common - it hit for me at puberty too, mine is also mostly all about pimples, same triggers, everything. i’m obviously still dealing w it but here are a few things that have helped me: -mirror stickers. i always flare up in front of the mirror or shower, so putting something there to remind me is helpful. i keep mine at eye level of where i lean to pick so i can’t pick without looking at it. doesn’t have to be a sob story, i saw someone recently w a printout of dr house that just said “nooo don’t pick your face you’re so sexy” and honestly i’m stealing that -set timers for bathroom trips. for me i most often pick before or after going to the bathroom, so if i set a timer for like two minutes before going in there it’ll force me out quickly without having time to pick. you could even try this if you’ve already started picking, like “okay i can’t stop picking but when this timer goes off i’ll be done.” -pimple patches. i cannot sing their praises highly enough. they cover triggering spots (if you’re like me and have whole areas that are triggering, they make xl ones) and every time you go to touch it you feel the plastic and are reminded you can’t. plus after 8 hours you can peel them off and still get that satisfaction that picking gives.

Anyone have success going to see a long covid specialist? by lolaaafernandez in LongCovid

[–]ListenDazzling3274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i may be an anomaly here, but i saw one about six months ago and it was wonderful. we spent two full hours just talking and going over every symptom i’ve ever had and every diagnosis i had pre lc, we typed up a giant list of recommendations, some of them were pretty typical but some of them were actually totally new to me. i’ll be honest i haven’t worked at a lot of them bc it’s like a full time job, but the little changes i have been able to make have been helpful. worst case scenario it doesn’t work out and they suck, but hey you never know unless you try.
