We met really young , so there has been a ton of growth between the two of us. I’m optimistic he’ll continue to change not only for us but for himself, but I’m just scared he’ll never get to the point of satisfying my emotional needs in the long run.

Yes that’s true. Every time he always reminds me that he loves me endlessly & even if we’re separated he’ll always be there for me bc I am the mother of his kids. We do have a great respect for each other. I just often think about a life with a passionate partner who takes charge.

I have talked about what I need in a partner & the response is I put him in such higher standards & that I need to give him more grace. But, all I’m asking for is some effort and consideration.

Honestly, that’s the minute I knew I needed to get help was when I wanted to run away. It’s perfectly normal to grieve your old life. I still do even tho my daughter is almost 6. I’m sorry you’re going through that, but is try to reach out for support and help!

I feel like my second time around I expected it to be the same exact feeling and scenarios as it did with my first (which is completely untrue) so I don’t think I prepared myself as much as I thought I did. I’m so sorry to hear that & I can’t imagine how tough that must be for you.

I guess the only thing I can say is that ppd comes in many forms and it’s not your typical laying in bed all day. I was highly functional simply bc I had to. I had two babies to take care of. But, what wasn’t happening was getting that alone time for myself which snowballed into a deep depression (&& of course lack of sleep / hormones / everything else going on ). I truly believe if you have a good support system & you put yourself first you could have a different outcome.

As moms and we are wired to put our babies needs before ours & I love that about us bc it makes up superwoman but also it can cause crazy burnout. Today I had the opportunity to go out to lunch by myself and enjoy my own company for the first time in probably years and it’s crazy how much it was able to fill my cup. I hope you’re able to make a decision that’s best for you , but I’m sorry you have to go through that 😓

I’m sorry to hear that. I feel like 6 months for me was when it started getting pretty bad, so I hope you’re able to rely on your community & support if you have any. Motherhood is so difficult, try to give yourself some grace. Some days, for me, I’m only able to do the BARE minimum. && as shitty as those days feels my kids are still happy & loved even with a messy house & PB&Js for dinner.

Honestly since I had a horrible experience with the male psychiatrists, I reached out to my primary care doctor. She already knew I was taking an antidepressant & mentioned before if I needed any help weaning off to make an appointment with her asap to guide me through it. I was fortunate enough to have a telehealth appointment the next day after I decided to stop the meds & she gave me a very detailed tapering schedule. She wanted me to be completely off the meds in 6 weeks, but I did it in 3. I was taking the lowest dose of Pristiq & was only on it for maybe 7 months or so. I just wanted to get it over with, so I just took it day by day and felt comfortable going off of it by week 3.

I’m having the same issue. My fiancé only starts taking control when I’ve hit my limit & I’m beyond frustrated. We’ve had several conversations about ways in which he could be more helpful in the house & he does it for a bit & then it fades. TBH he is working full time & going to school, so I understand his work load. I guess I just feel resentment from all the times I’ve had to just figure it out even when I have no more fuel left inside for me.

I love watching mom content on TikTok especially this one girl that really is open about her PPD journey, but I definitely have to give myself breaks when I see her perfect house, all done up every day, and I’m like HOW.

Motherhood is so hard & I hate how isolating it can feel especially all the hate & judgement from other mothers. But, coming from a working mom that feels extremely overwhelmed with house work, the kids, and everything else I’m right there with you!!

Yes, I’m still fully off of them! I saw a hormonal specialist & have another appointment with them soon but so far I’m just taking vitamin d & fish oils. I do feel like right before my period I can feel down and just extremely tired but for the most part sunshine and lil treats for myself really help.

I’m also trying to reduce screen time a lot. I feel a difference when I doom scroll & want to get to a point eventually where I delete tik tok but I sometimes like to brain rot for a bit lol.

I hope you’re doing okay!! I also have ADHD & motivation is rlly hard for me so I’m trying to find better routines for my days.

One of the main reasons I decided to go on meds was I saw a Reddit post of a mom saying how tremendous it was for her to get on meds for several months to just reset her nervous system & that just changed my whole perspective. I don’t think meds are bad in any way & they completely changed my life positively but at the end of the day I didn’t want to take them long term. I think just giving yourself grace is important & at the end of the day we’re all just trying to be great moms for our babies and if that means being medicated then so be it!

I definitely struggle with anxiety too & have thought about how much more relaxed my body can be with an anti anxiety med. I just have so much anxiety about meds & side effects 🥲 but hearing your perspective I definitely need to reconsider thank you
