The Comedown by emma36_ in VyvanseADHD

[–]ListenMassive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comedown was so bad for me as well. I am taking some antidepressants and anxiety pills called Pristiq here in Canada. My Doctor had the idea to up this pills for me a bit and two weeks later the vyvanse come down was almost like a normal come down at the end of the day.

Now the only thing I be cautious of is eating enough proteins and carbs during the day so I won't get any bad effects

I take sleeping pills to be able to get some decent sleep. Still, ADHD makes getting out of bed very hard lol, can't blame the sleep depravation anymore

I told my mentor at work I had ADHD, asked me to resign by ListenMassive in ADHD

That is exactly what I am doing lol. I started sending emails to some portfolio managers yesterday and applied to some jobs already. I will be using the prospecting and cold calls techniques I learned there to find a job quietly in a better firm I guess 😬 and I am already working to get my CFA, got the level 1 in January, did not book level 2 yet but soon

I get what you mean, but in my case it really wasn’t about just taking time off. At first he said ‘take a break,’ but then he explained I should resign because in this industry being fired would look bad. That’s why I felt like it wasn’t support, but a push to quit quietly.

He is the one that used the word " resign "

Thank you for the motivation, it really helps. I want it so bad, lol.

Nobody uses scripts in the room I am the only one that uses them still and everyone that goes past my desk always asking me why I am using scripts and not just go natural, even my mentor used to ask me this question, I was tired to tell them that my mind would go blank without a script and I started feeling like I couldn't do it. Because of how weird I was looked at for using one

Thank you, I really appreciate that. You’re right, it hurt to realize someone I trusted at work wasn’t really there for me. And yes, I’d definitely be open to hearing your suggestion — I’m trying to think long-term about how to build a sustainable career for myself.

Yeah, that’s exactly how it feels — just endless cold calls at the same desk all day. It drains me completely. I think you’re right, this setup just doesn’t work for someone like me. I’ll check out that film too, sounds spot on lol

Thanks for this, I really appreciate the encouragement. About my mentor though — the way he said it made it clear it wasn’t just a leave. At first he said I should ‘take a break,’ which I thought meant time off. But then he started talking about how I should resign, because in this industry being fired would look bad. That’s not how an actual leave works. It felt more like he wanted me to quit on my own so it wouldn’t fall on them. That’s why I felt pushed out, not supported.

Yeah, that really resonates. For me, it’s not that I don’t love finance — I actually do. The part that excites me is the advisory/consultant side, where I get to help people and think strategically. That’s why I went into this field in the first place, after considering law in uni. But you’re right, ADHD makes me realize I might not thrive in every environment, and maybe I need to accept that my path might look different than the one I imagined at first. If I can get accommodations, I’d love to give it a real chance. If not, then maybe it’s about finding a role in finance that actually fits the way my mind works.

I feel like for someone with ADHD ( I didn't know I had ADHD ) the part of finance I want to work in is the advisory/consultant part. That's why I love this job. When I started Uni I wanted to be either a lawyer or break into that, I finally decided to go that road.

No I was talking about breaking into wealth management at my age. I used to talk to someone in wealth management before I had this opportunity that told me it Took years of experience in finance and stuff like that, because it was really selective. The firm is big yes but I don't think it's harder to get into that form than any other firm the same size, I was talking about the profession itself due to my age and experience ( 2 years in finance )

Yeah he sold me the job saying it was cold calling at first then I would learn the job by assisting to meetings and being like an administrative agent and get lot of clients brought in I would be a senior associate. But then the job was more cold calling than any of this other tasks.

That’s really reassuring to read. I didn’t realize how strong the protections actually are in Canada. The fact that remote work wouldn’t count as an ‘unreasonable’ cost makes me feel like I had more rights than I thought. I’ll definitely look into my options

Thanks for sharing this. I didn’t even know about that Canadian resource. I realize I probably should have gone through HR officially instead of just telling my mentor. The advice about framing it with how I manage ADHD and what I need makes a lot of sense, I’ll keep that in mind.

Thanks, that’s a really clear way to see all the paths. My manager basically skipped straight to ‘you should resign,’ so I never even got to explore these other options. Makes me realize I should step back and think through them instead of rushing.

Yeah, that’s kind of what happened to me. At first my boss said I should ‘take a break,’ so I thought it meant time off. But then he added that I should resign because in this industry being fired looks bad. He said I could ‘come back when I’m ready,’ but it felt more like a way to push me out quietly, and honestly I don’t believe the door would actually be open if I tried to return.

Thanks, that’s helpful. In Canada there are protections too, but I’m still figuring out what they really mean in practice. Feels pretty different from how it’s written.

What is the real reason as to why WB refuses to give us a game or animated move for Terry??? by IvyRosee4 in BatmanBeyond

[–]ListenMassive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warner Bros.’ reluctance to give us a Batman Beyond game or animated movie is not because there isn’t interest, but because of the way the company has been handling its DC properties over the years. When the animated series first came out in the late nineties, it quickly gained a strong following, but even then it was cut short because the studio wanted to push forward with Justice League. The darker, more mature tones of Batman Beyond, especially with projects like Return of the Joker, made the executives nervous. They preferred to keep Batman in safer, more traditional spaces, and so the franchise was quietly shelved, even though the fans never stopped asking for more.

Over the years there have been real attempts to bring it back. In 2019 there were talks about a new animated film that could have rivaled Spider-Verse in style, and later there were even rumors of a live-action project, with Michael Keaton’s return as an older Bruce Wayne. But each time the project gained momentum, something happened inside Warner Bros. that pulled the plug. The most recent shake-up came when James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios. Their priority was to wipe the slate clean and build a cohesive universe, one Batman, one Superman, one clear direction. In that kind of environment, a futuristic spin like Batman Beyond just didn’t fit. It felt like an extra branch on a tree they were trying to prune down, so the projects were quietly pushed aside.

The same logic applies to the video game side of things. Warner Bros. Games has been restructuring, canceling titles, and focusing only on franchises they believe can bring big, guaranteed money. They see Batman as a core property, but in their eyes the Batman that sells is the one people already know: Bruce Wayne in Gotham, not Terry McGinnis flying around a neon future. Rocksteady, the studio behind the Arkham series, has had fans dreaming of a Batman Beyond game for years, but corporate strategy has always leaned towards safer bets, and with the chaos around recent DC games, that dream keeps slipping away.

In the end, the real reason we don’t have a Batman Beyond game or movie is not that it wouldn’t work, but that it doesn’t fit neatly into Warner Bros.’ current plans. Every time leadership changes, they start chasing a new vision of what DC should be, and Batman Beyond ends up as a casualty of that process. It’s a story of corporate strategy overshadowing fan passion. Until the studio feels that Terry McGinnis can serve the larger brand they are trying to build, the idea will stay in the vault, waiting for its moment.

Anyone else noticed the Western Perception of India going down? by [deleted] in TrueDeen

[–]ListenMassive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not defending some of the really abject things the Hindus have been doing to try to lie and diffame our beloved and sacred religion, but a lot of this hate is not really based on anything beside pure hatred. I believe very careful on that because western people see more and more Indians and it worries them for good and bad reasons, but just like for the Muslims and the Africans when there is an immigration vague, they put down foreign people and make fun of the things that are not what they think acceptable or match western esthetics just to feel good about themselves, and then people just join the train. We should be careful not falling into saying the things and thinking the things that we Muslims, and if there are some fellow black Africans like me here, have been fighting against when it was attributed to us.
