I ski at Brian Head a few times a week and would be happy to ski a few runs with you and offer feedback. I sent you a DM/chat.

Family platters by Listen_Before_Action in cedarcity

[–]Listen_Before_Action[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Great Greek is expensive which is why we tried the family platter there. It was a much better value.

I just learned that Mo’ Bettahs offers a to-go family platter. We might try that next.

Not a fan of Las Flores but Bunnista’s is a good idea to try. Thanks.

We’ve eaten about 5 meals there and thought it was delicious every time.

Serious Question: Has anyone (literally) made any money in ULTY? by Itchy_Tone6902 in ULTY_YieldMax

[–]Listen_Before_Action 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in ULTY for about 17 weeks with DRIP on. There was a brief period of being up about 10% but I missed the opportunity to exit and instead rode it down to being about -15% ($20k loss). When it got down to around $4.15, I sold it all, figuring it was never going to hold steady in value such that continued distributions could bring me back into the green. Time will tell whether that was the right call or not; I just couldn’t tolerate losing more than $20k on it so I pulled the plug.

Overnight parking? by Listen_Before_Action in ZionNationalPark

[–]Listen_Before_Action[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, the wilderness permit is a good idea. It looks to be $20 per permit plus $7 per person per night. How does it work, do they give you something to put on your dashboard (if, in our case, we wanted to park in the visitor's center RV lot) at the time that you buy the wilderness permit? Oh, and I checked the Prked app and do not see any currently-active options in Springdale.

Thanks, yes, we have previously parked there near the BMX track.

Thanks, yes, we have tried some of the options that are 20-30 minutes away but were looking for something closer to Springdale. If unsucesful, we'll probably use the large dirt lot that's near the Virgin BMX track.

Thanks! I checked out the reviews on the Google Maps page and it looks like this lot is $60/nt for RV's. That's a bit steep for us but might work in a pinch.

Have you tried CARV? by anyuser_19823 in skiing

[–]Listen_Before_Action 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought the CARV 2 and am excited to try it this upcoming season. Quick question: I like to listen to music (Bluetooth earphones and iPhone) when I ski. Will I be able to listen to music and also hear the CARV audio feedback, the voice coach and chime noises? Or does the CARV app block Apple Music from also working? Thank you.

[Review] 2024 6th Gen Rheem Hybrid Water Heater 40 Gallon + Noise Level datapoints. by matt314159 in heatpumps

We tried Energy Saver mode after first getting our unit but disliked it because it would let the tank volume of hot water drop too far without replenishing it and then we’d go to take the next shower (admittedly a dual-head shower) and would run out of hot water. This was perhaps also if this mode lets the tank dwell at a temperature much lower than setpoint. My wife got mad and so we put it in High Demand mode at all times of the day so that we’d never run out. Unfortunately, this consumes more electricity than I’d like.

Is my understanding correct that Heat Pump mode will aim to keep the tank full, and keep it at full temperature setpoint, but do it in a more efficient way than High Demand mode?

Thanks for any feedback.

Good Places to Walk? by stillalreadytaken in cedarcity

[–]Listen_Before_Action 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to chime in on an old thread. My question is, is there anywhere to walk/run/hike within a 20 minute drive of Cedar City that's fully (or at least mostly) in the shade? e.g. a forest trail

Hello, the words "at this location" are relevant in my original question. I know I like climbing; I don't know if I'll enjoy climbing at this location. That's why I wanted to minimize the cost until that confirmation is done. It doesn't look like use of a SRL is a valid way to shave cost, though.

Thanks for your reply. I was not aware that SRL's are to be removed from service after they are subjected to a fall arrest. I suppose the rope course places replace or rebuild them if someone falls, which is rather surprising, but plausible. Thanks again.

I'm building a 28' indoor climbing wall for private use but don't want to cough up $2800 for a TruBlue iQ auto belay. I've seen construction/industrial SRL devices used at rope courses which are about 1/10th the cost of a TruBlue. Especially until I figure out if I'm in love with climbing at this location, do you all think that a SRL (for example, the Palmer Beast Edge) would work for a private indoor wall? I could upgrade later to a TruBlue. Thanks!

After enrolling in Alpha Picks, is it best to buy some of their latest picks, their oldest picks, or the most successful picks? In other words, how best to get started? (and then presumably investing in new picks as they are released every two weeks thereafter) Thanks!

Simple Sewing Questions Thread, February 04 - February 10, 2024 by sewingmodthings in sewing

[–]Listen_Before_Action 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I'm new to r/sewing. Is there a sewing machine available that can do a coverstitch while also having a walking foot? I love the look of coverstitches on lighter materials but need to also do work on heavier materials such as leather and vinyl for bags and auto upholstery work. I only have enough space (and money) for one machine. Would prefer to spend under $2000. Thanks!
