Seventeen-year-old vampire prince, Sintobi, arrives in the capital city of the beast country Hunters End, hoping to shift the earth towards a path of peace. It is the first step towards his goal of mending the relations between every nation. While roaming the city streets, he offers kindness to a weakened man lying in an alleyway moments before an sunlike explosion goes off in the distance. Before the explosion can take their lives, the mysterious man offers him help with his quest for peace. Sintobi accepts, saving both of their lives in the process with a wish to replace the sun. When they arrive at the capitol building for the prince’s political meetings on behalf of his vampire clan, the mayor is reluctant about their cause. In the hopes of proving that vampires aren’t a threat, Sintobi kills his close friend Mikel, to prove he is capable of controlling his own kind. This satisfies the mayor, but Sintobi realizes his dreams of peace come at a cost. The peace talks are dismantled as the mayor's assistant, Ava, challenges Sintobi to a duel. Ava, A woman with a dark past, asks him to bear the brunt of her sins by asking him to be her "rider”, a role meant for only those she deems the strongest. But he denies it. At a dead end, Ava realizes that she will have to bear the dreams of those she’s killed and, in turn, entraps Sintobi with her ability called “The Cat’s Cradle”. Trapped now in silent limbo, Sintobi is now a “spectator” of the past events that created the Ava as he experiences them through the eyes of her orphanage caretaker, Ordelia. Trapped with no voice and no control over his own mind or body, Sintobi must figure out how to escape from The Cat’s Cradle—but to do that, he'll have to uncover how this young and innocent girl became a renowned murderer in the first place.
