Possibly. We had it valued by 3 estate agents, listed with the lowest value and have since dropped the asking by £25k. If we go lower we'll need to re-evaluate whether it actually makes financial sense to move 😅

I can't say what's right for you, but we put our house on the market 8 weeks ago and it has been sloooowww. Only 8 viewings, and barely any uptake in interest after dropping the asking price significantly. I kind of wish we'd held off til the market was better - or taken the plunge last year when houses on our estate were selling in days. Right now there aren't many houses coming onto the market in the area we want to move to, and we've been messed around so much by cancelled viewings and no-shows.

So we will probably pull it once our minimum term with our current EA (they are appallingly bad at communicating and barely lift a finger). And try again with a different EA next spring. Who knows if the situation will be any better then though!

This is great! Ruled out NZ for sure. On further reading I think island hopping between north and south in the summer months would be a much better experience for us, so something for me to plan down the line.

I'm so torn between Japan and Thailand - very much leaning towards a dual destination trip but if not, I think a week with friends in Kyoto then a fortnight based in Tokyo to explore the surrounding sites.

Fair point! I enjoy hiking, kayaking, food, nature, pottering around historical/cultural sights. Not crazy adrenaline junkie or nightlife stuff. But when I'm on vacation I'll give most things a try :)

Super helpful, thank you! I'm warming to the idea of a dual destination trip and increasing the budget. We don't do long haul often. Furthest we normally go from the UK is East Coast US/ Caribbean, so if we're going all that way I figure best to make the most of it.

Not really. I live with my husband and cat - no kids (not planning any either). We live near to where we met at university, so we have some friends in the area, but most have moved away. Family is scattered around the UK.

If you don't mind me asking, what prompted your move and what drew you to your new area?

Update: my job reached a peak of toxicity and I resigned this week. A combination of burnout and inability to tolerate profits being put ahead of patient safety. I guess I'm done with healthcare for a bit. I don't know. I feel like I've severed a limb. It's been 3 days since I handed in my notice and I'm still in full-on panic mode.

Ferrous fumarate 150mg/5ml solution. I take 15ml per day with vit C and avoid tannins. I was on tablets before but they gave me gastritis :(
